There’s an awful lot of emphasis on the assumption that everyone wants a mortgage! I agree with the comments about the background music. Totally unnecessary and distracting. I noticed that this video was posted 8 years ago and I wonder if anything has changed with the house buying process in Scotland?

Legal aid is a complete joke! The way they see it is. If you rely on legal aid. Then you must clearly be a peasant who deserve to be convicted on whatever charge is put to you... Legal aid give criminal defence solicitors a financial incentive for their clients accepting a guilty plea bargain. Basically the solicitor gets extra money for it. Money is saved as there's no costs for a trial, aswell as jury and witnesses expenses... And if you're the unlucky person who fell for the plea bargain. Its your life that ends up ruined! You have a RIGHT to a fair trial. Don't accept any plea bargains. And if you think your solicitor is taking the piss. Tell them they're sacked!!

As noted in the comment below, I'd echo the point about getting the home report before doing anything else. Why? To get the valuation. The listed price means nothing unless it's fixed price. It's usually "offers over", but in Scotland almost all properties go for above valuation - well above valuation within the past year. So the valuation from the home report will indicate whether it's in your budget or not. It's worth noting as well that mortgage lenders will only lend according to the valuation, so if a property valued at £100k goes for £108k, you'll most likely need £18k (10% deposit plus the £8k above valuation).

Only if you wanna live and settle down in Scotland. As an investment? you're probably better off buying and renting out flats in London, cuz that'll (almost) always go up in value.. Yes, it's a bit of a hassle if you live outside of London but properties in London double in value every 10 years.

Good points clearly stated. Video seemed to state that the Home Report is requested by the purchaser after noting interest via the solicitor but I prefer to get the home report before viewing the property or even engaging a solicitor. Background music is too pervasive and loud. Quite unnecessary.

But legal aid was removed in 2013 to the majority of these cases, and in the uk you can't get legal aid even against the government in civil matters where they've illegally witheld benefits. Is it different in scotland if so that's unfair I would like to hear if this is the case.

I have always just wondered what the hell ever happened to simply being a human being. You know... like not identifying my person with my sexuality, because maybe, just MAYBE im a tad bit more than my preferences in regards of where i like to rub my genitals. How about not turning my workplace more "gay friendly"? Like... what the actual hell does that even mean? You want to paint the walls rainbow? How about just letting me exist as a human frikin being without pushing yourself head first into my sexuality and wanting to champion yourself around by wanting to make everything "gay friendly" around me? This is now approaching psychopathic levels. There is no need to make anything more gay/bi/whatever friendly. All that is needed is to enforce the already existing standards of respecting each other as human beings. The BASIC frikin standards. Not this. All you gender fascists ever do is to split us into groups, labeling, objectifying us and then playing us against each other. At this point im doubting that you have ever had good intentions.
