Down here in Georgia US, they clear all the trees before building. Okay, some trees fall on some houses, but in a "big picture" sense, the density of trees Nova Scotia has probably absorbed a lot of that storm energy. Thanks for sharing, you and yours have been on my mind, and I wish you a speedy return to as much normalcy as possible!
