What if there is resistance to pull out the medication?
There shouldn’t be any resistance because there’s no pressure in the ampule 😊
There will be resistance in case of oil based injections
I used the second way. Alcohol swab for cleaning IV bag port, Alcohol swab bag for breaking an ampule.

How to remove needle?
Use filtered needles. That way, bottle particles can't be withdrawn

For my feeding tube. I attached string or rubber band looped on itself?? Not tied so not to constrict the tube. Then take barrettes and attatch the looped end of the string/rubber bands to the hair. The tube was hurting my ear over time.

Use the alcohol swab itself, rather than the packet. Wrap the swab around the ampule like you showed with the gauze. The swab will do a better job holding on to tiny fragments of glass, so you don't leave them on the counter.
Unfortunately, not every facility considers this as best practice because they don’t like the possibility of alcohol coming in contact with the solution.

How to store opened ampule
You don't. If you need to save part of the drug for later use, move it to another container like a syringe with a cap or an evacuated vial. The opened ampule goes into the sharps bin so that no one cuts themself on the broken glass.
We don’t store opened ampoules. Everything is discarded after the medication has been withdrawn.

These are just available choices. Often times my colleagues will use the alcohol swab package because it’s readily available 😀

Holding the ampule upside down. I don't think that work.
It does! If you need to pull the entire contents of the ampoule and you’re using a beveled filter needle, it may be the only way sometimes. Let me know if you try 😊.

Whatever you use as protect should be lint free. Gauge is not at all recommended at all as it will shed the particles into the liquid and it will get injected to the systemic circulation causing strokes
Hello! After cracking the ampoule open, a filter needle is used to to withdraw the medication. No lint enters the syringe.

Surely holding the open container with fluid inside won’t result in it spilling out over your goddamn toes 😂… I’d rather keep gravity in mind while withdrawing from an ampule
