Is this one an extended van, rather than a cargo?

Ha! Tell me, have you ever replaced an analogue cluster with a digital one? I hear its possible on certain models and am very interested in doing so.

In my totally biased opinion, a Cargo is only one with the barn doors in the rear, as opposed to a single up-swinging liftgate. Both cargo and passenger can be in regular and extended length. Literally speaking, anytime any Aerostar is carrying "cargo" it is of course a cargo van. Camper conversion is a whole other category, but I have actually seen camper 'star both with liftgate and barn doors, so I suppose this is an extended passenger camper. :}

Ha! Great comment, yea I had no idea how involved it was. Cousin Skot took it upon himself, I just showed up in the morning and it was all done up. I give him a lot of credit, he is kind of a whizz in that department, so I am certainly not complaining, but yes overkill is probably accurate. Supposedly it does more than just the headlights, helps with window wipers and just generally takes less draw off the battery, think its supposed to help starter as well because the wires aren't going all the way there and then back through the headlight relays. To be honest the wipers still move pretty slow, which is all well and good because I don't really plan on driving it in the rain, and I'd be just as well suited to put on some goggles and stick my head over the windshield to drive in the rain. Jealous!! I'm not sure why the Americans always seem to get the crappiest spec's of all these euro cars, but a manual in this thing would completely transform it, and a diesel seems even better. That's a ford diesel from the factory?

Hello! Sorry I am just getting to your comment, as far as I know they all came from the factory with a single sliding door. Seems well within the realm of Boyd's shop to do a door delete, and honestly more likely than Ford doing so from the factory. I saw not too long ago on Jay Leno's garage a Boyd truck, was a S-10 or maybe Silverado or Sierra, very 90's in the paintwork and everything, but a lot of nice subtle details and excellent craftsmenship. That's amazing you have a Boyd Aerostar! Kind of makes sense it was an 86 because that's the first year so it was something new for his shop to customize. According to Wikipedia its 2001, but there is probably an overlap between when they were manufactured and how long you could renew a registration. My brother still has the 2001-2010 blue waterfall plate on his tesla, he has transferred the registration from a 2000 carolla to two prius' and finally to his current car. In theory if you kept transferring or updating the registration I wonder how long you could have kept the liberty plate. I guess 2005 is the answer, but my brother's plate is now 14 years past its termination of manufacture, so very interesting there. Janky do thanky for the comment.

Sorry for the late reply, at this point I'm not ready to part with anything. I have those as well as a set of the "Iron Cross" style, its funny because those are a half inch wider I believe. The cromodora CD 91's - the ones on the car in this video, are probably the most common overall, and if you keep your eyes peeled you can usually find a set pretty cheap on marketplace or one of the forums. They are a very cool looking wheel and a 4 spoke is very european. Let u know if I ever change my mind. Janky do thanky

My apologies for the late reply. What state are you in? I can really only speak to NY state, as they all differ. I'm not sure about "show and display" rules other than for cars newer than 25 years old that are imported here under show and display, meaning they can be legally imported but not legally driven. What insurance carrier do you have? I sound like a walking advertisement but I truly think Hagerty offers a great service. You assign a value of the vehicle together, and yes you have to prove its not your daily driver just because the insurance is so much cheaper, so there I'm sure the risk mitigation of the vehicle not being driven everyday factors into their prices. But with Hagerty there are no specific "mileage limits" you just have to prove that you have another car that is NOT historically registered or insured. Then once you have that "HIS" distinction on the registration card you are free to apply for "vintage" plates. So sounds like if you get the 2014 and the 2000 on a normal auto policy, then you can put the 1992 on a classic policy, totally distinct from the policy the other two are on. I know some major companies offer "classic" insurance but its just tacked on to your existing policy. I would put the classics on a totally separate policy with a different company. And again, not to sound like a broken record, but Hagerty really does offer a great service for a reasonable price. And no mileage limits. Hope that helps/makes sense

@@JankyAF I've heard good about them. Wow I had a lot of typos. I get messy typing and only on CZcams it stops correcting or corrects wrong. The use only for show is as per NYS. Guess the work around would be more expensive but get a personal plate with the number you have and put the old plate on. Usually no enforcement will question or give you a hard time.

"more excellent" - I love this description, and I happen to agree, its more "pure" from a styling standpoint. Between you and me I really wanted the car to be saved as well, and it was traded in, so I'm sure its probably out there still. I think whereas the benchmark used to be 100,000 miles (and nowadays has kind of come back there) then toyota and honda kind of said no, the benchmark should be 200,000 miles, and a new standard of longevity was made in the 80's thru 2000's, and now I think it should be 300,000. That's what I'm trying to get my '15 Prius V to, I think 300,000 should be the benchmark. And I know someone who had a 1st gen xB that had like 280,xxx and was doing great until it got t-boned. Sad story. A manual 1st gen xB is a true collector car at this point I'd say. Thanks for the comment! Love the love for the Scion brand.

Hello again, janky do thanky again for a wonderful comment. I think there is a lot of divine to be found in the everyday, in the normal, in the banal. So many of us are just tracking our paths, and there's an illusion that this path has to be validated or gratified by some authoritative force beyond our station in life. But small fleeting human connections I think go a long way in creating spark, and we can then supply the fuel and oxygen to keep the motor running. You remember that song "Get what you give" by the New Radicals? I love that song. Janky do thanky for the comment, its a big circular mobius strip, just trying to do my part to boomerang the good juju I have received back around to the next person.
