[Audio] Pearl Harbor Visit on Hiroshima Day - US-Japan Relations
Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima Peace Memorial park are difficult places to visit, but also important destinations to maintain and allow people to consider wartime choices and their consequences. This year, I had the chance to visit Pearl Harbor on Hiroshima day August 6th and attend a peace light-up event at Pearl Harbor again on August 7th to commemorate the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945.

Gorgeous! Still on Oahu? Were you born or raised there in Hawaii? When did you arrive in Japan? If I'm being too nosey, just tell me so! Wish I could be there. I moved from the Waipi'o Valley to Waimea Canyon and the Kalalau Valley, Na Pali SP on two fun 'cultivation' (hehe) jobs over the course of '77. Then back to LA for too long before Japan in '90. Met my Miyazaki wife then and made it official in '91. 😊 'Mom? Dad?' 😅

The accident occurred on March 11, 2011, as part of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, which was the most powerful earthquake in Japan's recorded history. The earthquake triggered shock waves that caused hydrogen-air explosions in Units 1, 3, and 4 of the plant, resulting in structural damage The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident in 2011 was rated a level 7 on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES), the highest level of severity, and is considered a major accident The accident contaminated the environment and humans with radionuclides such as iodine-131, tellurium-132, and caesium-134/137. However, a 2013 report from the World Health Organization The accident is considered to be the worst nuclear incident since the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, which was also rated a level 7 on the INES. This a very tragic disaster and one the radioactive ones
