great script and amazing editing! i love warhol, or at least am endlessly fascinated by him, especially his involvement in the velvet underground and his factory of friends. it'd be interesting to hear more about warhol's photography. I've also looked through some of his figure drawings and it's interesting to see how such a prolific artist approaches each discipline. I'm a film student so i've been trying to learn more about photography to strengthen my fundamentals and this is a very useful channel!

Great channel only just found it through researching film stocks and then got recommended your Warhol video. I know his works fetch huge money today but is still think a lot of people don't realise what an important artist he was.

Super funny, I'm an artist who's recently picked up photography and instantly fell in love with it because of how seamless of a transition it was. You really nailed it right on the head with these points. All the things I studied about colour, composition, texture, and taking inspiration (stealing) from favourite artists all apply very naturally. Id say the same may work vice versa, I could definitely see a skilled photographer coming into art with an interesting perspective and a practiced eye. The two practices really do compliment eachother.

The Baroness Elsa from the Dada era is one if my favorite examples of early performative art, I’d love to see a video on her.

heads up! the metal part of the lens isnt ISO that is set by the choice of the film you are using. the lens part that is 25-400 is the shutter speed. Noticeable from the speed change in the shutter. Not to be a know it all just making sure all are aware :)

Thanks for asking your viewers for our preference. And thanks for helping me understand Warhol. I had him down as a talentless self promoter, who happened to make it big in a nihilistic post WWII consumer society, but now I see there's far greater depth and a challenge to the viewer in his work. My vote for the next artist would be Francis Bacon, whom I understand has a complex relationship with photography.

Yes yes yes. I've always thought great photography is an art, and great photpgrapher artists. The two wprlds absolutely overlap. and processes from one (like composition for example) can be brought into another. Great video, and subscribed!

Do you process your own photos? I remember the 24 shots that we use to sparingly use. Thats why we have so few photos of gen x as children/babies

Yeah, the Pentax here in Europe is about €500, which considering you can get a very good vintage analogue SLR from a reputable dealer with a year's guarantee for a fraction of that price, kind of makes it an exercise in elite consumerism. Nevertheless, it is definitely a good omen, and signals a clear shift in the market, and bodes well for the future. Once again, an intelligent and well produced video. Keep them coming!

I've been learning photography for fifty years, but this video is the starkest slap in the face with common sense that I have seen since I can remember. Thank you for spelling it out. The reference to how children paint and live in their own creative moment is a jewel of wisdom. How can you be creative if you don’t get out and experience the infinite source material the world outside the algorithm offers us? Brilliant.

How is this camera in a dark setting, ex: concert?

In the day it was the common property way to wind film all rhe way back into canister.

Wait, I'm not supposed to pop the film canister open with a bottle opener when I develop?

I think Nikon SP is good Leica alternative ;3 i own Leica m4 but Nikon SP is so beautifull camera
