    Have you tried brewing up used tea leaves and coffee grounds, letting it cool and then slowly pouring it all over the pile? I have issues with my mobility so I can’t always turn my bins but I tried it and it heated everything right up! I have a big sealed container in my kitchen and every time I make a drink, I reuse the leaves or grounds in a spare cup and add it to the container when cool. All my food scraps go in too! I have a couple of piles going and I empty the “brew” over one of the heaps every day

    Very cool. It also explains why Bermuda grass gives such inconsistent results when covered. If there is air under the cover, the exposure to air keeps the rhizomes from growing. The lack of light keeps the stolons from growing, and the grass is effectively dormant. If you really crush it down, allow no light and there is enough moisture, the rhizomes grow, exhausting their reserves.

    They look too sparce, I personally like thicker brush vines bushes something that you can't see thru them, morning glory vines are not, the seeded morning glories which will go dorment in mid fall & turn into straw vines that have to be removed so I went with morning glory vines never reseed they continually grow from the vine makes best privacy fence.

    I am in Sandbaai Hermanus SA near the beach. I had a beautiful lemon tree in a pot for 5 years, it was doing so beautifully but I was terrified that it would die from root bound. But when I transplanted it (lots of rocks unfortunately) it started dying, I am so sad, it even has dried out immature lemons on it. I love my tree can you pls help me save it pls? It's winter here. I am on a down hill

    • @fieldtrippin1
      @fieldtrippin1 Před 2 měsíci

      Sounds like it's not getting enough water. Remove what rocks you can from around the tree, add some organic matter/compost to your soil. Adding a thick layer of mulch on top of your soil can help with moisture loss. Just dont pile the compost and mulch up the trunk. Keep the base of the trunk at the same level that it was in the pot. Cut off any dead branches and suckers. Deep watering that is infrequent may help. Give it some time, the warm weather that arrives in spring should encourage new growth. Happy gardening!

      It could certainly help. I would get started as soon as you can. Trim down all that you can, physically remove some if possible or needed, and start smothering. Once covered, give it plenty of time.

    I was hoping for some good news. 😢 I have tried every method you mention, but the only thing that works is pulling this crap out by hand. I was hoping you had a magic bullet that I hadn't tried yet. I guess for now, I'll keep pulling this crap out until it decides to stay out of my mulched area around my raised beds. I have been pulling this out for 2 years now, and It has gotten better. But you just have to stay on it before it gets out of control. Thanks for your in-depth video.

      I was thinking about all the grass that's popping up again in my mulched garden area right after I have just gotten done with pulling this mad grass out again, laying down new cardboard and multch. I can't keep up with pulling it all out. I was going to spay an area with vinegar water today and see if that will help kill off the new growth. I garden in the evenings now because it's getting too hot here in Florida, so I pull weeds for about 15 minutes before I'm done gardening for the night.

    My lemon tree was sprayed with dorm oil (omni supreme) in January (winter). It's not doing well. Did I damage it beyond repair?

    • @fieldtrippin1
      @fieldtrippin1 Před 3 měsíci

      I haven't used Omni Supreme but if it was used according to the instructions you should be fine. Now is time to prune off any dead or damaged limbs. Remove any and all sucker branches. Fertilize with a decent organic fertilizer, and irrigate as temps rise. You can add a layer of mulch, but dont mound it around the trunk. Lemon trees are pretty hardy, give it some time. Good luck.

    I make my own. My current mix is forest Humus I rescued from a house and driveway build. Peat moss I bought in bulk. Biochar I made from cooking food. And mushroom compost I bought. I mix the biochar and mushroom compost ahead of time and let it sit in large clay pots out in the rain. I sift the humus and mix it 50/50 with peat moss.. In the future I want to shred saw palmetto stumps I have to replace the peat and the mushroom compost is now being replaced with rabbit manure. Store potting soil is getting high in price and low in quality.

    I'm planning to sow habanero pepper seeds in this month of March spring but in which month or season you sow the seeds and can these plants tolerate the severe heat of june and July? Do they need full sun or partial shade.?

    • @fieldtrippin1
      @fieldtrippin1 Před 3 měsíci

      You cant still sow seeds, but in my climate zone I start my Pepper seed indoors around January/February. Habaneros enjoy the heat and can tolerate full sun. When temps get close to or over 100 some gardeners use a bit of shade cloth to keep the fruit from burning in the direct sunlight. Afternoon shade is fine, but you want them to get at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight.
