TOKYO XTREME RACER 3 even in 2024 still is one of thr alltime best street racing games alongside NFS UNDERGROUND 1 & 2.

As good as Tokyo Xtreme racer zero was this game pales in comparison which is why I think it's garbage

I still have my day 1 disk of this game and I still play it to this day, cause as you summed up: they don't make racing games like this anymore. and I personally fell down the rabbit hole of tuning in this game as well as all the pricing range for buy and fully upgrading a car, and I just don't get that from any other racing game nowadays. the fact that the game really, and I mean *Really*, makes me think about my decisions both on and off the Wangan in terms of "should I buy this car over the one I have?" "should I sell this car?" "should remove the spoiler and get rid of the downforce in favor of more straight line power?" "should I shorten the gears in favor acceleration, or get longer gears for more top end power?" "should I get this upgrade at the risk of making my car too heavy?" it's the little things that the game makes you keenly aware of after a while that I love so much about it, that and the money management since money is *Strict* in this game.

I bought TXR3 a few years ago. I've played it a bit. It's good. I really got into TXR 0 when it came out. Simple concept really. But so much fun. This game, or type of game needs a new release.

I used to play that game years ago.. not properly, but now I got a good phone, and I ran an emulator in it.. surprisingly works well.. except some frame rate drops.. but other than that, it performs well.. my main car is the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R and it holds up well.. except in the long straightaways since it can never go past 180mph.. but its a pretty decent 2nd car for starters like us

Honestly at a point i cannot stand playing this , gets very boring fast . I have to be absolutely plastered to keep doing the same races , in the same loop , for hours . The genki logo and the west c4 is super cool tho , love the intro it’s beautiful

If it wasn't for my online touhou fan friend, I wouldn't have found and enjoyed Genki's Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. Though I am having a problem running TXR 3 on my laptop, but I have tried TXR 2 and Street Supremacy. The TXR series is better than going to an arcade and play WMMT. It's more fun than WMMT. The tuning, physics, and the battle mechanics that fused a racing game and a fighting game. I am loving the TXR series.

Tokyo xtreme racer zero is one of my favorite games that I still own. So today, I went to a flea market and guess what I found for 15 bucks. This game.

Best racing styles game ever, remake these gane on new consoles and online mode like Gt7 it would be over best game ever!

the trick to these older racing games is to use the d-pad

Too bad you had to use cheat to enable the last rivals in the english version . . . I used the cheat to enable boost on na cars just like turbo while i was at it too rofl. You could also open the disc tray to run in autopilot for hours to unlock engine swap on a single car :P And to be honest i never noticed the lack of Honda rofl Great game that deserve a remake/remaster. At least there is assetto corsa shutoko revival project which is the closest thing but in sim version . . . .

By all objective means this game is pure trash and deserved the mediocre reviews. Every single aspect of this game is bad, flawed, broken, or just plain not up to 2003 standards. It's a painfully slow game to play and the difficulty curve is beyond unfair. You physically cannot beat the game by any legitimate means. The translations are complete nonsense and even then full of typos. Etc etc. But literally none of that matters. The game is amazing. It's amazing because it is what it is, and tells the story the way it does. The unfair and cheating AI mixed with the ridiculous grind make every win that more satisfying, and every boss battle truly feel like you fought tooth and nail for that victory. There's always something to do, even if it is literally the same thing you've been doing for dozens of hours because that's what this game is

Shit... the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series is responsible for killing AT LEAST 5 PS2's in my house back in the day grinding and autopiloting miles for engine upgrades back then LOL

i grew up with racing games such as nfsw / carbon and gran turismo, i picked this up tonight and its pretty good, its carbon but more mature and less ricey / corny liveries and characters.
