Its now 2024. About 15 to 20 Years ago I went to a Eddie Low & Kevin Greaves Concert at the RSA in Te Atatu Nth Auckland New Zealand. Eddie was doing a fantastic job when John walked in, walked to a vacant seat sat down and listened. When Eddie finished his song JR belted out, “I can’t stop” 2 times no one did anything then he started gain, “I can’t stop, loving you” and continued to sing the whole song with only Kevin Greaves on guitar. He was the only muso there, and JR got a massive reception. The 3 of them continued on a few songs then they all got guitars, did a couple more songs and ran out, (well they made it look that way), so they started calling for songs from the audience. To this day it was by far and away the best concert I’ve been to and I’m including Fleetwood Mac. And it was only $15 entrance fee. Before Johnwent to Australia he was in Eddie Lows band called 3 Blind Mice. For rthose who don’t know Eddie is legally blind I hope John Rowles invested wisely when he was making millions.

Hard not to be seduced by Hawaii and the celebrity life there at the time. Had he stayed in UK I have no doubt he would have been as big as or even Bigger than Tom Jones, Englebert or anyone else. I hope he saved millionsof the millions he made.

This was a time when kiwiland was much more cohesive and a happier place to live in....before and after these games......the 21st century has seen alot of change in attitudes but not necessarily for the better! I thought the song 'this is the moment' was a catchy one that people could sing and dance along to! The Royals always seemed to enjoy visiting New Zealand for these occasions!

Brotha Dollar-fifty...amazing, when did he learn this song?? In 1968 he sang "At the End of the Rainbow" and "Hey, hey Paula" the entire year as if he knew no other. His wife Cairo's facials during these sessions were so priceless I ended up naming my band "Cairo" after her - Taylor's brother Dave Noda was in the original group too. Much love for the video.

I went to one Xmas in the Park about 20 years ago and it was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere had such a 'feel good, wanna be there' feeling to it. However after watching it for many years on tv also, I found that the actual Xmas classics were becoming less and less and this 'Xmas night out for the family', became one of a night for the up and coming singing artists to introduce themselves to a massive audience. I would go as far to say that most of their songs weren't even about Xmas but about them singing their rap songs about anything BUT Xmas!!!! 😧😧That was when I started to lose my interest in it. It's such a shame. I sincerely hope the organizers go back to whats worked in the past ie: News Readers, Jounalists, Politicians, 'recognised artists' (like these guys - awesome!!!) sports celebrities, haka groups, cook lsland groups, church choirs - kiwiana - style, singing Xmas songs like they used to - like the good ole days, and bring it back!! Let the rappers have their day somewhere else and leave this night alone for Grandparents to enjoy with their children and their children's children, with songs everyone can sing along to!!!
