I was a big Living Single fan. I watched a episode of Friends to see what all the fuss was about. No fuss. No where close to being as funny as Living Single.

Prince solo was okay. It was showy and all about him. Very prince. Some licks then run up and down the fret then another lick then fake dive in the audience. The best solo on this was when Clapton played it with McCartney. His solo was so musical and beautiful. Prince’s solo was showy but empty. Then throws the guitar at the end. Which he does a lot and once pulled the worst asshole move by doing it with a vintage guitar someone else gave him and he had to stand there horrified as Prince threw his vintage epiphone up in the air. The guy was a real prick.

Maybe have Toby Mckeehan of DC Talk on the show and get his point of view instead of talking about him behind his back. Dude has sold millions of albums from his days in the group up until his long lasting solo career. And he is a respected songwriter and artist even 30 years later. The best QLS episodes are the ones where artists are asked all of the deep cut questions that other outlets are too stupid to ask them. The same respect you guys gave to Fred Hammond should be extended to this segment of music you’re making fun of. I don’t always like some of the opinions that come out of Phonte and L’s mouths, but I still listen for the mostly thought provoking questions and respect their points of view … usually.

This was a really good interview. Robert Townsend made a lot of my childhood movies. If The Fiveheartbeats was playing I was definitely watching it. I also really liked his show The ParentHood.

The cast of Star Trek the Next Generation went through the same things too.During their first season on the paramount back lot they had full metal trailers ( like some thing from the 50/60s ) without heating or air conditioning.And no craft services either,they had to raid food from other productions craft services. Eventually things got better for them through protests and when the ratings started going through the roof.

I have an insane amount of respect for Robert Townsend. He truly is Hollywood royalty. When my parents divorced and I would spend the weekends with my dad, Hollywood Shuffle on VHS was one of the many movies we bonded over. One of the greatest movies in my lifetime.
