But I must say that the "The Last Will and Testament of Father" part is a bit clunky... Other than that, amazing song! And Mikaels album growls are now like his live growls which are great. The earlier album growls were horrible in my opinion, but the live versions were great! So ... this album (box set) has been ordered and tickets for the concert have been bought. :D

Oh, that spoken word in the beginning (Draped / In Death / The Howl / Of Lore) is Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. And at the end, the spooky female voice doing the same is Mikaels daughter. :)

She just released an EP you should review that next. I think she improved even more.

I love how different people have totally different takes on music. For me this was my album of the year so far. Bilmuri a close second. I’m 36 so this style of metalcore is super nostalgic for me. I loved every track on this album.

Ain’t nothing spooky about Opeth. They are a magnificent, innovative prog metal band. First song off the new album slaps so hard it’s ridiculous. I’m looking forward to the rest of the album 🤘🤘

Also yeah, they basically changed 3 vocalists, each name of these vocalists begins with a capital J, there was James, Jake and now there is Joel. This is really weird how they changed vocalists over the years, not gonna lie. But i still quite enjoy their music.

There's different speeds to weapon attacks depending on what you're using. You're basically trading speed for damage. Swords hit faster than axes, axes hit faster than maces. Same for the 2-handed weapons. You also don't use any stamina unless you're using a heavy swing.

Understanding what Opeth "are" as a band is tough. They've gone through 3-4 different phases (not just "Oldpeth"/"Newpeth") over the course of their studio albums, and this feels like the start of the next phase that's kind of a halfway point between the heavy music found on their Watershed album and the prog on In Cauda Venenum. You'd feel like you're listening to four different bands if you react to a song off Morningrise, followed by songs off Still Life/BWP, Watershed, and ICV.

§ is usually read section. 😊 It's seen in legal/formal documents, indicating sections (articles, clauses...). Confusingly, in many languages the term 'paragraph' applies, this doesn't really fit in English.

I feel like this song has no soul, compared to earlier mts it's very weak and just feels empty

Haven't listened to Unprocessed in a while, but I like this approach going from extremely soft to super low they are going lately

SO excited for this album, i only started listering to them this year and already get a new album :)) Also, do yourself a favor corey and check out Giant Walker, promissing UK Prog band that I would describe as sometimes djenty, alter bridge / moonthooth inspired with female clean vocals - very excited for their new album this year, singles have been killer. That they have 2.5k monthly listeners is criminal.

Good stuff :) They are putting in the work! And since they are so young, we got a LOT of Albums to look forward to :D Proud of this german gem!

This is up there with their best work imo. This sounds so mature and manuel has really been working on his clean vocals. It's a great progression of their previous album. It also has a super unique sound to it overall, as expected from them.

cant wait for you to soak up the rest of the discography!
