The Best Drive & Kick Drill/Blind 3v3
zhlédnutí 485Před 2 lety
- Ball starts on defender’s back who is facing the rim. - The game is live once the player with the ball takes the ball off the def. back & drives. - The ball-handler can finish or pass. If no initial shot is taken, it becomes live 3v3. Great drill for decision-making & learning how to play the game.

    How is the slowest most unathletic player on the court getting free layups against superior athletes? Defenders either jumping way early and flying out of bounds or not jumping at all and staying planted to the ground like pylons as Luka literally walks around them to a free layup. Silly. What about the travel @ 1:07 that appears like he was attempting a jump stop before he passes to the player who’s jump stop he video focuses on? I didn’t take a really close look, like slow it or zoom in because I’m on my phone screen small I’m outside with glare etc. But interested to hear some opinions because @ 1st glance that one appears to be travel to me. Though I understand wasn’t an example or a jump stop the video focused on nor did creator claim that it was/wasn’t a travel.

      I *think* he bounced it a second time as he's moving to his left, it's just obscured behind him and the defender. If he didn't bounce it a second time then it's definitely a travel, but with the ref being right there I think it would have been called.

I may be an old man(47) yelling at cloud but I think basketball is headed towards a bad place. Why are high school kids not being taught any screening AWAY FROM THE BALL? Why is movement only relegated to replacing a spot on the floor? There was a segment in this game where there were around 6 straight misses from 3 by both teams. Do high school coaches all think they are the Golden State Warriors with Steph, Klay, and KD?

      Can we just appreciate the skill it takes to do that. We know he’s not as athletic in comparison to his peers. He’s definitely more athletic than you and I he’s an NBA player. But in comparison to them he’s not. Let’s appreciate skill trumping athleticism.

    • @toyin71
      @toyin71 Před 3 lety

      @@judetheman1562 being able to stop and start or slow down your steps after going full speed are athletic things you can train, its way harder to do than it looks. He isn't that fast and doesn't jump that high but those aren't what makes up ALL of athleticism

    • @judetheman1562
      @judetheman1562 Před 3 lety

      toyin71 Yes you are right there are other aspects of athleticism. That Luka doncic clearly possesses. But it doesn’t make him “Athletic” if that were the case we could say everybody is athletic. Because each person has different strengths athletically. Such as speed, strength, balance. People just narrow it down to explosiveness.

      @@judetheman1562 Nah man, there's a lot of people who don't have any of those. Case and point, Me lol. Also I feel like you can't say something like "everyone is athletic" just because they might have one physical skill that's seen in athletic people. If everybody's athletic, then nobody's athletic. You have to have SOMETHING that separates athletic people from non-athletic people. He might not be as athletic as a lot of other NBA players, but he's still very athletic in comparison to those that are less athletic than him, and infinitely more athletic than people who aren't athletic at all.

    It always amazes me to see Nash be so efficient with his finishing. You dont see those Kyrie's crafty handling skills or Rose's athleticism in finishing the basket. You just have the feeling that the defenders were not seriously guarding him and the way he scored is so effective. I dont know if its because of the pick n roll he ran instead of the iso plays we see more often nowadays.
