Highlights:
•Unveiling the new trailer for transporting campers
•Sharing my thoughts on investing $10,000 into this used trailer
•The journey from Goshen, IN to San Antonio, TX
•Handling unexpected repairs and costs
•Detailed breakdown of trip expenses and earnings

Trigger Systems Sapphire CR44 Sump

Newly installed sump. I had to order 1 extra 1.5” emergency drain with the acrylic piece and also 1 extra 1” return fitting with the acrylic. There was already a spot factory cut for the emergency overflow, but there wasn’t one for the return, so I had to cut that in. I used a jigsaw and a dremel and had it cut out in just a few minutes.

    7 yr OTR truck driver here w 1 million miles under my belt. The key to making money is limiting your dead head miles. Get a load to a destination and have a load within a percentage range to bring back. I.e. Take a trailer to San Antonio and bring something back to Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, or even Missouri. Now your banking money both ways. It does complicate things a bit, but you'll like your numbers better. 👍

I'm planning to buy a 1-Ton Ram and a Trailer or two..I'm going to set up my LLC under my own DOT Number so I can haul different things. You could haul multi trailers for this company, but be able to find loads headed back. Its definitely all about finding a rhythm and loads to make it work.. Matt, I have great respect for you and what you do. I drive semi commercially for a major nationwide company. I have a new ram 3500 crew cab long bed. Looking at the math, it just does not seem like you are making much money, considering oil changes, fuel filters, depreciation, tires of eventually. Etc. Keep up the hard work. It just seems for the amount of time that you been working after all the expenses that you are working for a very low wage. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I hope you have great success. as a commercial truck driver, I appreciate your endeavor.

    3/4 tons can legally pull more than a one ton… you need to get more information. The main difference in the Chevys anyway is the independent front suspension on a 3/4 versus a solid, harsher ride, front end on a one ton

  • @EfficientRVer
    @EfficientRVer Před měsícem

    You're taking a very big gamble with being over length and almost surely over 26000 GCWR. The only way you're not over GCWR with the 14000 GVWR of your truck, is if your trailer is rated exactly 12000. And then on top of it, you're tearing up a 1-ton dually rather than loafing along in a cheaper, more efficient, more aerodynamic, more professional, more comfortable, and safer HDT. And then there's the whole issue of getting the right amount of weight onto the truck vs the trailer, even if we ignore the GCWR problem. You're between a rock and a hard place by staying non-CDL plus needing to run right at the non-CDL scale limit, while exceeding the GCWR limit. You've got a CDL and are acting like you don't. Use it! Hit the reset button. Find a nice used Volvo with a sleeper and APU, before you find the tail wagging the dog. It will at least get your rig to be legal. Right now, every time you go through a weigh station, your concern shouldn't be just the weight, it should be an inspector looking to bust a hotshot violating the rules, because that's exactly what you are. Likewise, any cop who pulls you over for anything, will have the ability to really ruin your day, and not even have to let you continue to your destination.
