There was a time when it had 3000 speed but it would glitch a lot and so moved it back to 1000. There has always been a speed up and slow down problem (basic physics) that depending on the width of the engrave, going faster could take longer when the distance was short and take less time going faster when the distance was long. This physics has not changed but the improved acceleration has increased the "sweet spot" that is the shortest time it will take. It is true enough that 3000 at even full power will not make much of a mark on wood, but if you are scorching paper it could be handy.

Would you consider doing a voice over of this video explaining what each tool is and the settings you're using? I am new to inkscape and want to learn to do exactly what you show here with my own drawings. Thanks!

I have the P2 tool crumb tray but no riser. How would you suggest I remove Amazon's crumb tray? Would thin metal hooks pull it out?

I have a Glowforge and the honeycomb tray allows full access to cut a 12 x 19 sheet. I recently purchased the P2 with crumb tray, and the tray is too small and inefficient! The 12 x 19 boards sit on top of metal edges which reduces the cutting size and could warp the cutting surface if not completely level. The cutting area is not large enough for the 12 x 12 samples included with the P2. Bad design.

could you possibly post what settings/parameters you used plz? specifically, if you could post what you used for following settings: quality, material, power, speed, passes. the more precise/accurate settings u can give us, the better. there are some issues w the A5 pros, where presets for metals are not engraving on metal. thankyou.

4:30 for this short demo it doesn't do anything, but CO2 lasers shouldn't be used at 100 % power on a regular basis.

Not sure if GRBL laser software has over scan like lightburn but if it does enable it and should get rid of the burned edges from the diode laser. I have not used GRBL for my diode in a couple of years.

Thanks for the tutorial since I was having a box measuring 8" high in Inkscape arbitrarily increased to 10" high when loading into my Glowforge machine. Sizing the document canvas to the Glowforge bed size worked!

Once I get to the Dynamic Offset, I do not get the little white diamond. All steps leading up to this are working. Been trying on two separate laptops with different images. Same issue. Anyone else hit this?!

What kind of file did you save it as to upload? You didn't go over saving. I'm having trouble with my laser recognizing separate layers when I import designs. It just makes everything an image

I was using a 5 milliwatt laser before and I still don't know how long it would've taken to engrave wood because my cats keep chasing the beam! 🙂

Following along with this review with interest. Question: Can you use Lightburn with the X-Tool P2, or are you limited to the proprietary software? Also, if limited to proprietary, is it usable offline (in case the Internet connection is down)? Thanks!

Thank you for this! One question in regards to the distilled water/coolant ratio; I'm also in Texas (Houston to be exact). Will only using water cause any damage to the laser tube? Would adding SOME antifreeze cause issues?
