I've said it plenty of times, but man the graphics in this game are out of control. The presentation is great, the animation is great, the visuals are great. Samus's voice actress has been playing it cool the whole game, but when there is need for her to show emotion in her voice, she has done so.

​​@@CrimsonCavalierGamingIn this game? Well, Other M was my introduction to the Metroid franchise and I love it, despising his faults and his reputation in the fandom. So, I was open-minded about Samus' characterisation because I really dislike denigrating the series' producer vision. I really have never seen Samus as a "cold-blooded tomboy" or a "female-fatal diva". So, I understand why she is like that, why she doesn't disrespect most of the time to Adam and why she reacts to Ridley like that. Speaking of Ridley, I have mixed feelings about him; not because of his inclusion through clonation in this game, but about his misrepresentation of his rivalry with Samus and his intelligence in the franchise. I constantly keep forgetting that he's the LEADER of the space pirates and not just an "obedient monster" because of his apparent lack of speech and leadership.

@@BarrilBuzz I always felt like Samus with more personality is a better Samus than just the robotic interpretation of her in the NES, GB, and SNES games. Don't get me wrong, Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time, Top 3 even, so I'm not criticizing the game. But for example, in Zero Mission when she gets her suit taken away and she is vulnerable, but still able to overcome and succeed, that to me makes her even better. It adds depth to the character. I don't think the version of Samus this game presents is perfect, but I do appreciate the fact that she goes from being defiant and kinda bratty and grows up to be more mature. It's a whole personality arc that good characters have.

Yeah, I agree that it could have been done a bit differently, but I didn't hate it. The fact that the creature she has been hunting this whole time turns out to be Ridley also adds an extra layer of shock. The Federation is the one who created this Ridley clone (though later it is confirmed they didn't know it was him), AND she already defeated him once and for all (or so she thought). There are plenty of reasons for her to be shocked at it being him. I really do get why people do not like this, but I actually will say I prefer my protagonists with personality. I think it makes Samus cooler. And I think this is true with Zero Mission as well, when she loses the Varia Suit and has to sneak around the Pirate ship. She's still badass, she just doesn't have the weaponry.

I have only done the full Telvanni questline once, and that was on an old PC back in like 2003. It's one of my least played factions actually. When I join houses I usually go Hlaalu or Telvanni. I also still have my copy of Morrowind GOTY on Xbox!

If I remember how this questline ends, the prime target is _them._

Honestly, I wouldn't hate it. I think if this game had taken a different tone, this could have been an incredible horror game. An abandoned space station where biological experiments took place, where the creatures have taken over, PLUS a mysterious, evolving monstrosity is killing members of the military team that came in looking to solve what happened. Oh, and don't forget a double agent.

Morrowind is my favorite as well! I liked Arena even though it's a little weird, and I liked what little I played of Daggerfall. Oblivion has its own charm. But Morrowind is definitely my fave.

It could be one squad member. It could be someone else. It could be a doppelganger. It could be multiple traitors. In theory. But I think the game is going to be simple, and it's going to be someone other than Anthony or Adam. Adam is clearly not it, since he has been at the comms station the whole time. And Anthony has a big gun, so if it were him we would know. So there are only two options left, I think. Or maybe they "subvert my expectations" a la Rian Johnson and blow me away.

I *LOVE* Aliens. One of the best movies ever made. My wife and I just watched it recently. She had never seen it before. We're going through the entire Aliens and Predator movies/franchises. Some are better than others, but I really enjoyed this boss fight. It definitely was a homage to that movie, even if the bad guy was driving the industrial suit.

That's actually a good point. Though probably the enemies only are walking around now that the station has been compromised. I doubt those karate enemies were running loose when the station was running properly. One thing I mentioned in a few episodes now is how there happens to be switches that are specifically designed for Morph Ball, so it begs the question how anyone else opens doors. It's not an issue only with this game, it happens in every Metroid game, where it just seems out of place for there to be a hole in the wall that's exactly the size for Samus to enter, in a planet where she has never been in her life. Does everyone just carry around Morph-Ball sized keys around to open doors, or what?

@@CrimsonCavalierGaming I think that was explained in a Prime game entry but at least for the pirates. That they carry a ball of energy and so the morph ball bombs work in a similar way. I think her arm cannon works in the same way. USB C. USB Cannon. Like for example the researcher. She didn't have a full body suit as far as we know. You mean she went from one place and trudged through the winterwonder Iceland? It didn't happen everywhere but I always look around for that stuff.

@@trilight3597 No, I agree. Unless there are underground access tunnels or other ways to get around, it definitely is a little immersion breaking.

Nice! I heard about the translation patches. It's a nice feature, which maybe I'll end up using down the road. Like you said, it's not the absolute best option out there, but for the price and what it does, it's not bad at all.

Does it work the same as the one from Super Metroid? Automatically kicks in when you run out of health? Or do you need to do the health refill thing for it to work?

The retron would not be my choice because of what you just mentioned. It's like fake real hardware. I'd rather the proper system and mod it for my purposes. If that is difficult or expensive I'd go emulation. That said I will be getting a mister soon.

I'm sure that's true. However, I think this is easier. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is as simple as plugging it in and putting the carts in. You can also (from what I saw online) install a different OS to this, if I really wanted to in the future.

@@RemoWilliams1227 I looked into the mister, but to be honest, it looked too complicated for what I wanted. I wanted plug-and-play. I know the Retcon is basically an emulation box, and the mister uses FPGA, so it's better, but this was super easy, and it actually works great so far. If you do end up getting the mister let me know how it is!

There's a particular level where you skateboard down the Great Wall that I can never forget. I don't remember much of that game other than it was hard, and that level. It will be fun to re-live.

You see... Erik doesn't know when he'll run out of bullets for one gun, so he needs 7 extra just in case. Plus, he needs a handgun, a shotgun if he's going in buildings, a rifle for fighting multiple enemies, and then a sniper for long range. Duh.

I understand what you're saying. And that actually makes more sense from a narrative perspective. Here's the thing though, she totally needed it 😂 maybe in the hands of an expert she would not need it, but unfortunately for her, the person controlling her is me. I haven't decided how I feel about Samus's personality. I will say that I am liking the game itself. The gameplay is a lot of fun so far.

Yeah, he just disappears from the game. Story-wise, we don't know, though I think it would probably be a good guess he goes to Mainland Morrowind or Black Marsh. One of those would be my guess.

@@Seamkey I understand what they were trying to go for, I think, but I just don't think it comes off right. As I keep saying, though ... I am really enjoying the game so far.

I honestly think the pacing of this game is perfection. It's great for exactly what you said: 20-30 minute sessions. You can play more if you want, but you can just sit down, kill some fools that think they know what time it is, and then save.

I know this game gets a lot of hate, but I'm genuinely enjoying it. It's a better experience going in blind.
