Jemez East Fork: A Much Needed Relaxing Day in Nature [4K]
Sometimes it's not about the miles or the elevation gain. Sometimes it can just be about spending some time in a beautiful setting with a good friend. This is the hike that made me fall in love with the Jemez, and I come back every year. I never get sick of it, and I always find new things to see or enjoy every time I come back.

Fall is a great time of year to visit! You should definitely check out the other peaks in that cluster if you like Santa Fe Baldy. I just did Redondo north of Baldy from Lake Johnson last weekend, and it was mind-blowing.

Very long day! I figured there would be a little snow. I wasn't expecting that much, though.
First went there in 1965, only the locals knew of this gem back then really. My old man was always looking for new places to fish, camping was just a necessary chore to him. Been back a couple times since, it's different somehow and too many people now. Thanks.
It's still a lot less crowded than a lot of the other places I go camping. Probably just because it's not very close to any major cities. I just discovered it about 3 years ago.

Are you mountain lion/bear ready? What protection do you carry if any?
I usually don't carry anything. I have bear spray in my truck, but I've never seen anything in all my years of hiking here so I don't bring it.
