    Catching up on old videos. So glad to find an 'accidental' admin who had gone on to go the full route. I've interviewed with some of these folks. And, sadly, they never go on and get any training or learn any best practices. They seem satisfied with the fact that the platform hasn't crashed. Unfortunately, this lack of training goes to on to be reflected when they're interviewing someone. I also liked the fact that he 'ignored' the champions. Many times in business, you need to talk to the end users, directly, not their bosses, who frequently don't know what they're doing at best or have a completely wrong idea of what really goes on in the day to day lives of their workers.

    • @FrancisPindar
      @FrancisPindar Před 10 měsíci

      Absolutely, you've hit the nail on the head! A well-functioning Salesforce organisation thrives on continuous learning and best practices. "Accidental" admins can bring a unique perspective, but ongoing training is crucial for ensuring the system remains robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. I couldn't agree more about talking directly to end-users. They are the ones interacting with the platform on a daily basis, and their insights can be invaluable. Engaging with them can provide a more nuanced understanding of how to improve workflows or solve real-life problems-something that may not be immediately obvious when conversing solely with higher-ups. After all, a Salesforce system is only as good as the value it brings to its everyday users. TBH, the reason the champions were ignored was probably because we just never got around to talking about them. For me, they are a given in all Salesforce projects. How else can you can you actually run large Salesforce projects? Also, I don't know of any other Salesforce Admins that have become CTAs?. You may be talking more about Admins who call themselves Salesforce Architects but are not CTAs? In that case, YES, 100% agree... there are a lot of wannabe architects selling themselves as architects but are not.

    I like watching your videos, as you always have interesting topics and guests. One thing I'd like to see improved is the audio quality. The audio levels between you and your guest are often very different, making for a bit unnatural experience. Also, specifically you're microphone setup does not seem to best for purpose (picks up a lot of other noises from scratching your clothes, deep breaths etc. and sometimes adds static noise)

    • @FrancisPindar
      @FrancisPindar Před rokem

      IE you wouldnt notice any differences to the way Salesforce looks or functions, as in you wouldnt suddenly realise that now flow has totally changed and you have to use it in a different way. Because Salesforce now has the economies of scale using public cloud things will become faster. So for example there is no need to really "queue" the sandbox creation process, if 1000 companies all want to create 1000 sandboxes Salesforce can just instantly spin up resource to support each request individually rather than having to queue

    Great video Francis. I am currently doing study guides and mock exams from focus on force but my problem is That in their study guides there are so much of information which I actually hard to remember everything especially in Configuration and setup part which Making me less confident and anxious about the exam

    • @FrancisPindar
      @FrancisPindar Před 2 lety

      Checkout my Admin exam breakdown here: admintoarchitect.com/ultimate-salesforce-certified-administrator-exam-breakdown-guide/ and drill the sections you are less confident in. It really comes down to repetition or maybe changing the way you learn to reinforce it. But also think of compensating in another way by learning the other sections REALLY well. Configuration and setup is 20% of the exam. Even if you fail that completely and ace everything else you will still pass! Expect to not know the answers to questions, it happens to me all the time when I take Salesforce exams. All you need is 65% to pass!

    • @FrancisPindar
      @FrancisPindar Před 2 lety

      Start with the admin certification. It gives you the broadest experience of the platform. But also the majority of the platform you don't need to write a single line of code. In fact I would say about 70% of people developing on the platform don't touch code at all. Check out AdminToArchitect.com if you want a self paced admin course.

    Excellent tips! I've used all of these except taking the test at home- I've always gone to a center but I'm lucky to have them very convenient to where I live. One thing that I do you've not mentioned is more for when you've done everything you can and going back over questions that seem to be tripping you up. I find the wording of the exam questions to drive me quite mad, second only to the what is the "best" option questions. For these, I will take a few sections to pause, clear my head, and read the question forward, then backward. Why backwards? Because I can make sure I'm not skipping over words or my brain is seeing something that's not there, etc and that can open up the question to me when stressed. Now, if I could figure out a better way of dealing with the "what is the best option" questions because after years of experience- I can usually legit argue in favor of two answers and it would depend on the customer and the situation which way I'd pick! I hate those!!! They seem to penalize you for having experience. WIthout documented best practices, it's not exactly fair to have to answer some of those. And I really really hate the sample questions they will stick in there to evaluate for future exams. I understand why they do it, but just seems like dirty pool to me!

    • @FrancisPindar
      @FrancisPindar Před 4 lety

      Oh I like that idea of reading backwards! Sometimes all it takes is one word AND and you think it said OR and you have a totally different answer!. Yup agree with the experience bit too.. you have to get out of your best practice/how you should do it in reality to what Salesforce thinks using it's features etc is the best approach. Thanks for the info!!
