Honestly, the flag gals leave me confused. At EXACTLY what point in the flag's travel is the START signal? These gals wave the flag up, down, sideways before it touches the ground. I am of the opinion that instant the flag starts downwards is the start.

I live nearby the hill. Drove it, and rode motorcycles up that hill many times, but never competed there. Maybe someday!… 🏁

I remember during a race delay at Green Valley drag strip on my 13th birthday in the early 70’s. Don Garlits had gotten out of his dragster and took the time to waltz over to the pit side fence and shoot the breeze with a “How you boys doing?” to me and my two 12-13 year old buddies. We were thrilled. Absolute down to earth southerner who appreciated his fans.

Great video. The thing that made him famous was match racing, which really doesn't exist anymore. Getting paid to race allowed fuel cars, funny cars and a few other classes to grow because they were paid to race. And he is right on about NHRA turning the top classes into spec classes. I'm glad I was able to participate in the 60's and 70's. Racers had to invent, create and build almost everything. It was a great time. If you have time, check out the Colorado Motor sports hall of fame. Many great stories of early racing.

That's exactly what Lenard Wood said , he could look a part or a car and see in his mind how to make it and better. Great minds think alike. Big Daddy sure knows how to make lemonade when the crowd and competitors handed him lemons. I respect that.

Been there (all buildings)...it's incredible. Drove by one of the buildings in Cedars just yesterday and showed my wife an otherwise unremarkable building and said, "You wouldn't believe what's in that building..."

Went to the museum with my brother who was not well. Big Daddy spent an hour or more answered every question and told great stories. Great Man.

I met Don when he was on the lathe cutting tubing for the 1st streamliner. I sure wish I had gotten back since then.

You are the greatest impact on the business. Your legend will live on I believe forever. Thanks for the honor of knowing who you are. Long live big daddy.

Hi Don Thanks for the nod during restoration on a fifthy six Corvette from sorry fifthy Seven conversion you looked at it car show before the owner realigned the hood how he could have placed in the show 5 cent Nichol spaced! I learned from my father taught me and old timers the owner realized his mistake you told him I had it Right ! That ment alot to me!!!

I'm not quite sure but I think in 1965 or 1966 mr. Don Garlits was racing at half Moon Bay dragstrip. My next door neighbor in San Francisco was Don Smith and I believe his son Don Smith Jr was co-owner of half Moon Bay dragstrip. That was the weekend I met Big Daddy and he sat me in his dragster. Wow that's a memory I will never forget. I was 13 years old. That same year I met Mr. Don The Snake Prudhomme. I really miss my friend Don Smith Senior and half Moon Bay dragstrip What great memories. 🇺🇲🦊🇺🇲
