LMAO IM SORRY but your intro when you tried to do your spin and fell over lol that’s exactly what happened to me today 😂and I’ve been skating for over 4 years and my clumsy butt fell over less gracefully than you 😅
I wanna start it too💕 should i buy quad or inline ? In winter i will start ice 💕
Your video is Amazing! Are your inlines and ice skates the same pair of shoes? 4:12
Love to see your progress! Well done ❤
Awesome, you are inspired me❤ Great video, I enjoy it very much😊
You pick up new skills insanely quickly. Please tell me you now have private coaching? Bon courage in your journey!❤😊
Thank you so much! I took quite a few private lessons that season, so yeah, I did. It helps a lot and really makes a difference :)
@kelaex My coach means the world to me. I'd be so lost without her. I'm happy to hear you have some one on one attention and excited for your journey. Keep working hard!
@@SassySkaters thank you! It's been difficult to get on the ice now that I work full time. Let's see how this journey continues. Best of luck to you as well!
@kelaex yay adulting! I am fortunate to still be able to skate daily. Thank you, and here's to World Championships SOMEDAY! U.S.A. U.S.A. 😆 God bless love.
Why do you move so much?
i'm not doing it anymore, it was just the circumstances. but now I'm still in the same place I moved to over two years ago!
Loving this! At what point do you decide that you're getting professional skates? Is it when you started learning jumps?
pretty much! I think it's something you should do early on if you're serious about learning the sport. Proper skates make all the difference!
what a nice video. thank you for sharing. You are good, Keep going!!
thank you so much! :)
Good job. keep going..
Awesome to see you keep going, despite the times when you couldn't practice, that's really good Keep it up and have fun! 😄
Love watching your progress❤
Spins need good posture so I think that’s the problem
I know that first rink you were skating at! Im 99% sure! Keep it up, you're doing amazing!
Hi, thank you for posting your journey, how often did you practice when you first learn how to ice skate? thanks!
my first months, I went once or twice a week. after that, it gets a bit complicated, because there were lockdowns and restrictions so I barely got to go. My second season, when everything was open again, I went quite often, three times a week, I think.
I'm tempted to go to a parking lot but I'm afraid I'd get yelled at by security or sth... seeing that you're in the same country and don't have the problem maybe I should try that some time this winter.
it really depends on the parking lot, I think. Outdoor ones are usually less guarded than indoor ones, but you can always try your luck. My tip is to not go alone if you can - feels a lot better to have someone and is a bit safer :p
Thanks for sharing your progress, you've come a long way!!! x
thank you so much! I used to watch your videos as inspiration when I was just starting out actually!! :)
been waiting for this update yay! I just checked your other video out before this, I'm 13 and starting figure skating so you're videos r very inspiring
Hi!!!! First of all, that’s lovely progress! I am working on many of the same things. I skated a bit over two years, but I had year round ice, so I think your progress is impressive. 😉 Anyway, we moved this summer, so I have only skated twice since that. 😭 It was at the same two summer rinks that you go to, so I’m hoping you may be able to tell me more about the winter rinks and getting coaching in the area?? I’d really appreciate it! I had tried to inquire at the rink I thought would be nearest when we made the move, but they had closed for the season, much to my surprise. I miss having a coach and regular ice time. I’d just begun axel and double loop before moving and so many other fun things. Now I worry about even maintaining most of my skills. Where will you compete? I only know about Oberstdorf and some more recreational competitions where I began skating, in Romania. I’d begun competing this winter, in the US, and would really like to continue. 😍 Thank you for sharing such a comprehensive progress video too. I enjoy seeing them. I need to sort through a vast number of clips and get back to posting progress videos myself. 😃
thank you so much, I am very happy you enjoyed my video :) the sorting through a vast number of clips is always indeed a challenge haha The thing is that the summer rink is not quite close to where I usually train. Not super far off but it takes me around two and a half hours to get there. Whereabouts do you live now? I generally train more around Mainz/Frankfurt area. Right now it doesn't look like I will compete unfortunately, but there are quite a few people in my club that will. There are a lot of smaller comps in Germany that offer adult categories, I think autumn cup in Dortmund or Türme Cup in Ravensburg are a few examples, or generally you can compete in regionals of your area towards the end of the season.
@@kelaex I’m between Gottingen and Hannover. I’m not sure what my best rink options will be. The only coach I’ve been recommended is one who works with adults, but she is in Hamburg. I emailed another, but he only responded the first time and is at the summer rink much too far, probably, at nearly three and a half hours each way. In the US it was over an hour in any direction to rinks for me, but it was an easier drive, not winding roads or city. The train seems quite unreliable so far too. I don’t know the ice schedules, where there is freestyle if any… it’s all a mystery. It was lucky to even find the summer rinks. They didn’t come up on Google maps when I searched. I only learned about the closer one to me when some skaters from Hannover gave me the location when we were chatting in Willingen. Anyway, I really hope to have a local coach and find a way for more ice time. I don’t even know how much to expect coaching to cost here. Prices for ice time and coaching in the US were much, much higher than in Romania.
@@ThatFigureSkaterZamboniGirl unfortunately I don't know much about ice rinks in that area. :/ Unfortunately, the infrastructure is basically non-existent when it comes to figure skating, especially for adults. Finding things on the internet is basically impossible. Both clubs that I was in I could only join because I got the necessary information through word of mouth at the rink - similarly like you discovered the summer rink. It's easiest to know someone who knows something. Instagram can be really helpful too. Freestyle sessions aren't really a regular thing afaik. There are a few rinks who offer "patch", as it's called here, in summer. If they are a regular thing in winter, it's locally organized and only for members of a certain club. I believe they have that in Frankfurt. Unfortunately, my club can't offer anything like that and the other club that I was at also didn't offer it. Rinks are sparse and most ice time is given to hockey clubs and then FS clubs. What remains is the public skate, which is where most figure adult skaters train outside of lessons. Pricing really depends on the coach, but generally it doesn't seem to be outrageous compared to the US. From what I've heard it's anywhere between 30€-60€ per 50 minutes which is a pretty average hourly salary for a freelancer. I think the bigger problem is the availability of everything.
@@kelaex thank you for your reply. That’s a bit discouraging, but I guess I will reach out to the coach in Hamburg for any help she can give and will talk to other skaters when I’m back at a rink. 🙁
@@ThatFigureSkaterZamboniGirl starting out with anyone is a good idea even though it may be inconvenient at first. But that coach will know other coaches and maybe you'll find a better solution soon. Also keep talking to other skaters in your area. Maybe I'm overly negative and there may be more opportunities in your area. :) so don't be discouraged. It is definitely harder than in the US but generally we do have a lovely community of adult ice skaters here. Also, feel free to ask whatever you need to know if you think I can help or if you just want to rant lol
this was so inspiring <3 thanks for updating
glad you enjoyed!! :)
Getting back on the ice after recovering from illness/injuries is tough. A few months ago I caught a stomach flu (luckily I only missed one skating class). The first day I came back, my friends said I was using my willpower to skate, while my body was just a piece of flesh. So now I try keeping myself healthy to keep skating lmao.
yeah, it's so hard! recovery is definitely tough. so important to look after ourselves :)
🫨❤️
Sooo gut <3
Thank you for sharing your story!! I wanted to ask about the wrist guards you’re wearing in the video - do you have any recommendations?
How many lessons/hours of lessons do you skate in a month?
hey :) it changes between summer and winter. in winter i take one group lesson a week and then a private every two to three weeks. in summer I don't train on ice because it's closed, but I do go to off ice training once a week.
I think your trying alone is Perfect!
As a Defense Man I have to share this story. I Skate faster Backwards and have no problem checking on the boards. My Mom asked me to try Figure Skating and it is fun and Tactical. I met my wife learning the figure eight. All I am saying is simple. A skill you can use to visually piss off the Frenchey!
Love it. I’ve just started with inlines a month ago and while looking at the elite skaters is easy to forget how long but exciting the process is ❤ Keep it, queen 🛼
I need to know more! Did you learn more? Did you train more?! What happened? haha
i'll upload the update once the season ends :) it should be out in the beginning of April
so if you're still interested, year three progress is up :)
Well done🎉 I think you’ve done an amazing job with your learning journey so far!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
you should do a one year progress now :)
i'll do it by the end of the season :) expect it around the beginning of April sometime
@@kelaex yay! 💜
@@kelaex it’s april ! ❤❤
@@phoebeex life got in the way! working on it :)
@@kelaex looking forward to it 💕💕
When you are going into your spin suck your belly button in as close to your spine as possible, press the crown of your head through the roof, and try to center your weight on your skating/spinning leg. If you are traveling across the ice while spinning you are not centering your weight. Keep working hard, so jealous that you have some jumping down already.
I sure did ask for this when I typed the question "how to skate" in. I want to start soon and I now have some more motivation. Thank You!
That's great !! But I noticed how much the Drag Pick was causing you to trip or fall... so we grinded off the Pick to make learning and practicing faster. She doesn't need it or use it for anything anyway. She will use the Pick when it comes time for Jumping, if ever. She's not to crazy about Jumps and Spinning Jumps... just likes Figure Skating without those.
Easy
not me in the first month of learning how to skate trying to do the waltz jump and mohawk combo lmfao
Love this! I'm trying to convince my husband that this is a worthwhile investment for me. I used to love figure skating! I never did it competitively, but used to just go all the time. Now I want to take lessons as an adult (38) and bring our daughter (7) and let her live my dream out. :D I love that you did this.
Do it! Ice skating makes me feel like a princess! And we deserve to feel like princesses!
Any investment in your self is a worthwhile investment. You shouldn't have to convince your husband of that.
Would you recommend inlines or quads for doing tricks?
That was inspiring 😊
Thanks for sharing this and its really inspiring to know that one day I can also become like this. I’m a beginner who started last November as an adult, and my moves are awkward at the start too. Can you also share the model of the new pair of skates you bought? I also bought mine from Decathlon but thought they did not have very good support at the ankles so intending to get another one
i have the risport electra light boots and the MK Galaxy blade
Thank you! :)
ice academy :)
@@kelaex Cool 😎 Ich hatte heute beim MEC mein erstes Probetraining.

YOU are doing so good a tip for the toeloop is try turning on your left inside edge instead so you dont neeed to switch feet.
Your loop is great! The key to spinning is to get your free leg around squarely in front of you before you pick up too much centrifugal force before you develop the muscles to do it without thought.
yeah, my leg is too far out the side! still struggling with this unfortunately :(
What was frustrating about your first pair of skates?
I wasn't fitted, they were from Decathlon, so they were too big and I was sliding around in them. The blades were also really low quality and overall they were hindering my progress
@@kelaex thank you for the reply, I was thinking of getting the same skates since there are no skating shops in my country right now and I'm afraid to order online without fitting. Despite low quality, were blades curved enough to enable you spinning and execution of other simple elements?
@@hekoriginaljni6489 hmm, since I only had them for a short time I didn't get to one foot spins. I did learn my two foot spin on it but I didn't really have much of a rocker tbh, I felt my blades stopping me quite a bit. I think they were okay for getting me into skating but if you already know you want to pursue it, I wouldn't really recommend them as I switched after about three months.
Great work!! Love your dedication
For me it’s the opposite, Spins are very easy for me but jumps are like so hard
you can do it! I found jumps so scary in the beginning too
