If you have come thus far, all the way back to the dawn of photography, you may be like me and enjoy taking your time manually focusing and, alone with your thoughts, concentrating on the object of your photography.
Maybe it is the spirituality associated to capturing your version of reality and not being sure [instantly] you have accomplished anything. Maybe it is the intensely emotional look the silver crystals give to your street photography. Maybe the way they go about images, the slight imperfections that impart a sexy, yet surprisingly revealing flavor, that is missing in the lifeless limbo of digital photography.
Or maybe because, like me, you grew up in some grainy dust depression, and you are frugal in a severely Dickens’ way … when it comes to spending on equipment.
I am a lifelong black & white photographer interested in the interpretation of life by the artist, his personality [which generally transcends in inverse relation to the technical refinements of his work.]

How to take a selfie in the 60´s with a Nikon F
Who said that the Nikon F (any of its variants) can't be controlled remotely and wireless...?
From a time when people solved their needs without waiting for the market to meet the demand, we are proud to present a remote system for the Nikon F that several decades later still works as it did on the first day: seamless.
It consists, like any other remote wireless system, of a transmitter (possibly factory made for other equipment) and a receiver specifically designed to fit and work in conjunction with the F-36 wireless battery pack. An authentic work of craftsmanship, with finishes at the level of an industrial product.
If selfies had existed in the 60s (at that time we all had a friend -not a follower- to take a picture of us...) this system would have made things much easier, although it was probably conceived to meet different needs.
And here we are, 60 years later, marvelling that this well-built mechanism allows us to take pictures remotely with our much-loved Nikon F.
Enjoy the video (I don't think you'll find anything like it on the internet).

That was almost - meditative :-) I've never seen a receiver and transmitter like this. What kins of brand is it?
Awesome stuff.
Pristine and absolutely beautiful Nippon Kogaku “Fuji” marked body! This should be in a museum
I have the same, from my grandpa, but in old condition !!😢😢
I was literally going crazy to find the battery, thanks!!!!
FT 4709540
the focusing screen is not the same ?
It is not the same. Requires Type S focusing screen in order to work with the Nikon MF-17 Data Back.
You don't need the battery in the camera when you use the MD-4 motor drive. Those batteries power the camera.
Lo mejor……..las pilas del Mercadona jeje. Buen vídeo.
Me alegra saber que presta atención a los detalles del vídeo. Muchas gracias! 😉
@@nikon-filmvintagecameras2630 y a mi encontrarme con un aficionado español de Nikon como usted. Un saludo muy grande.
Brand New!!! Amazing Bro!!! So nice 👏👍🤙🇦🇷
Que es lo que se coloca en la ventana del obturador? Una pequeña pieza
「違法建築」といわれたファインダー、 当時は賛否ありましたが、私は大好きです。
ジウジアーロの洗練されたデザインを 打ち破る革命児🎉
I have both an F and F2. Other than my Hasselblad they are the most solidly built cameras I have ever used. I’m 72 now and I know they will continue working long after I’m gone
You are totally right. Those cameras are really built to last.
Nice condition
Thanks!
Fantastic set
this is amazing lol. could you technically use this setup to shoot videos with this camera? the autowinder paired with a bulk loader should be more than enough for low fps videos
Even with low FPS, you will run out of film very quickly. It's only 250 frames...do the math. For example: at 20 FPS you will only have 12 seconds of video.
Very Rare Black “Flag” Photomic Finder!
The rare thing is that this one works!!!
💯🇹🇷⭐️👍 I have 1 of this F3 device, it is very clean, it is for sale, if anyone is interested, there is a video on my CZcams channel.
💯🇹🇷⭐️👍Bu f3 cihazdan elimde 1 adet var çok temiz satlıktır ilgilenen olursa youtube kanalımda video su mevcut
Thank you! Any further information welcomed!😅
Thank you sir!
Thank you!
Excellant overview! Thank you! Still need oregon indepth@
Thanks!
I got one of these at vintage store, it's missing the remote button is that a big issue? Having a difficult time searching for a new one online.
Also how to do rewind the footage I've no film in it at the moment and was following along and can't get it back to zero😅
@@ICryWhenICum001 Late reply but incase this is still helpful - you reset the footage counter by opening and closing the film compartment
From where i can get this in LAHORE Pakistan?
Sorry for delay. You have the link to the product in our website in the description below the video. Have a good day!
Love it! absolute camera madness. 🤓
Yeah, it is!
Lovely video, I have just bought one from Japan on an eBay misspell, excellent service delivered to uk in 5 days
This hits hard.
Very nice to see a dream from the 80th... I sold them in this time as I was in a photo-shop (without knowing the future of "Photo-shop" 🤣) and the quality is unmatched until today - even by Nikon! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Right! I didn't sell cameras, nor am I or was I a professional. But I do remember this kit from when I was a younger man. I have a superb F3 today, the 50mm f1.2 lens and MD4, plus a bunch of other kit. Love it. If this chap uses this, begs question where does he get bulk film, how much does it cost and where on earth can he get it processed. All academic, still. I have camera junky envy.
Whats that little card that was put in the data back slit and what does it do?
It is to manually add data to photos such as dates or places.
Excellent video 😊! Journalist favourite duo: 35mm & 135mm.
Great demo, wonderful to see how well engineered the system was all those years ago...amazing!
There's definitely something to be said for just having everything mechanically coupled and most of all SIMPLE. Modern versions of this system like the F5 are better in almost every respect except for three things. 1) They can't be as robust as purely mechanical systems because electronics tend to have a shelf-life. 2) They're never going to be as tactile and satisfying because the buttons and controls are all electronic rather than being mechanically coupled. 3) If the battery fails, they still function just fine. Bonus) They don't have as much style as the old systems. I'd still pick the F5 (or just stick with my Sony A7iii), but I'm playing around with an F2 I just inherited, and it's VERY satisfying.
How does the shutter sound compare to a FE?
More or less the same. :P
I was 90% sure this video was a clickbait ^^ But no.
lmao 😄😄😄, I´m Happy the video actually satisfied you. Have a good day sir!
Complete 80`s madness, lovet it!!😄 But who on earth USED a set-up like this?? 😅
FBI, CIA, NASA and Sports photographers I guess...
Schools used them for yearbook, much more convenient then switching rolls every 24 or 36 students.
thanks!!
thanks for showing the camera, yours is in mint condition!! how's the 70-210 lens?
I carried one of these between 1988-1993. IMO it is one of the finest film cameras Nikon produced. Phoenix, AZ
I completely agree. It is my personal film camera right now and i love it!
@@nikon-filmvintagecameras2630 Good choice! Happy shooting.
Pretty amazing set-up. I wonder how many of those Nikon actually sold?
No idea, but not too many for sure. Have a nice day sir.
Stunning machine. Would sell the wife for a mint one.
Well, she´s really beauty... I mean, the camera. :P
This way, you'll be able to photograph the aliens that live inside the atom world lol😂
With this setup, you are permited to flex among your fellow street film photographer...
Of course we do... it´s impossible not to do :) have a good day sir.
In 2026 I will have used my Nikon F's for 60 years. Traveled the world and went through countless rolls of film. One was in a car wreck that bent the filter's rim but not the lens rim. They still work like they did when new and have never been repaired or CLA'd.
She is a mechanical marvel made to last.
Just incredible
Thanks friend!!!
It’s glorious
Thanks for watching! Saludos amigo!
So now I know what that notch sticking out the side of my F2AS head is all about. It’s for that far out auto aperture motor. How in the hell does it override the clicking f stops in the aperture ring of the ai Lens????
I'm not sure to be honest. I don't know if the clicks stop sounding, or just the motor sound overlaps the sound of the lens aperture. Have a good day sir!
Excelent!! 😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks for coming. Saludos!
Just picked one up today. Mine looks a little different though. Theres no place for a battery on my viewfinder, and it doesnt have the protrusion out the front. Or a rotating number dial like this one. It does have an obvious lever on the side though, which this doesn't An earlier or later model maybe? The rest of the camera is identical. Its an incredibly solid feeling piece of kit though. I think it might be heavier than my F100 which is a physically larger camera. Quite happy with it so far.
One of the features of the Nikon F is that the viewfinders are interchangeable. On our website we have a collection of 7 black Nikon F models, sorted by date of manufacture with their respective viewfinders. You can also see the different Nikon F models individually, each one with its own video review. Anyway, all Photomic viewfinders need a battery in order to work and the one without battery is the Eyelevel (pyramid shape). There are at least 6 different Photomic models. If you disassemble the Photomic you will find the battery compartment as in some cases it is located underneath. I hope I have been helpful. Best regards!
Nice, Thanks for posting!
Thanks to you and salute!
Time to go cyberpsycho the analog way
I could not have described it better...
