Preview of the new Athena 8K Resin 3D Printer with Force Sensor!
zhlédnutí 11KPřed rokem
I was lucky enough to have access to the new Athena resin 3D printer for the Lychee Slicer team to do the integration. Now that it's live on Kickstarter, I can give you a quick overview of it until I can offer the full test. As a reminder, it features a Force Sensor, which detects the slightest pressure on the build plate, which allows shortening the printing time by detecting when the layer is...
Thank you for the very nice and clear introduction! It makes sense to me now :). I'm 3DSQULPTS, sculptor of the Thief and Tiger and I wish I knew all of this when I supported it for testprinting and release. My question is, do you have a goto grid interval (more or less) for tall prints or do you go with your guts? For example, I'm supporting a cape that is 200cm tall and about 18 wide. so it fills the plate of a midsize printer and I tend to oversupport it. Cheers and thank you for your videos (and nice words about the sculpt ;) ).
looks like Lychee is thinking from every technical and logical aspect compared to chitubox
Very good video
Thank you Derek :)
TY for your very concise and helpful videos
You are welcome!
Amazing! Thank you so much!
thanks a lot for the explanation :D
Very good video, thank you!
Thanks for this. I haven't used Lychee in a few months, and I was confused about the new auto bracing and etc.
This support system is amazing I've had sections of the supports on large prints come off but becouse the grid allows the supports to support each other allowing for the print to be susseful 🎉
Fantastic new feature and really good, clear video. I’m going to have to relearn my supports but that time investment looks like it’s going to pay off in faster supporting and reduced resin. Nice problem to have ;)
I'm super excited about the new features upcoming and can't wait to try all of them over the summer the only thing I'm bummed about is my Anycubic MS 5 pro is not on their, but I cannot change the resolution to my own profile will this also be in the future update.?
It would be good if the slicer could generate calibration prints for resin exposure times. The new additions are awesome. Keep up the good work!!!
Not easy, because it means having different exposure per layer. Lychee Slicer can do it, but most file format can't handle that... :( You can't imagine how many limitations are from the file format and some fimrware limitations...
You need to add an option for the height which bracings start eg. Above 10mm fir example, every support shorter than 10mm won’t get braced. Also an option to set the maximum bracing distance between supports. For example, supports that are far away could still get braced.
Fantastic intro to the new features. I can't wait to start using them!
when i try to right click, recalculate i get a software crush!!
Can you send your LYS file to the technical support with your computer information and the steps to reproduce the bug, please?
I m not Shure about the steps that cause the crush. I Will try to figure It out and Shure i Will send everything ti the support team!!
This is extremely cool! Why did I not know of this? :D I'll support my stuff with this to experiment :O
Is this already our? I am missing the option for the grid support (I am a pro subscriber)
@@HuntersOA You need version 6 Public beta, it's available at mango3d.io/downloads/ or in the official Discord server.
interesting. I have a pro subscription and the grid support option is not shown

@@PolyworkshopInEnglish Thank you so very much.
Feature request for second reinforcement, have an option to connect them as a triangle, for very tall and heavy object i like to make triangles to combat both x/y forces equally.
It is already in the todo list :) (I need them myself :p)
Finally.. won't need voxeldance then
great video, will be watching this again after i download the new lychee version! Continue le bon travail!
Merci beaucoup! Thanks a lot :)
Very interesting! Merci beaucoup!
I hope it has been helpful!
Very good tutorial. Learned a lot. Thanks
Very helpful. I just switched from Chitubox to Lychee so I'm trying to learn as much about Lychee's features as possible. Thanks!
Enjoy! Feel free to watch my live stream dedicated to the preparation of Bayonetta model, I cover a lot!
Hi i have a figure that its in parts, buth its bigger than my plate, can i use uniform scaling and the parts gonna connect?
Yes, you can, but be careful about the keys that may exist on the 3D model to help the assembly. Most of the time, there is a small gap between the negative and positive ones, if you scale down, the gap will shrink, making the assembly perhaps more difficult.
@@PolyworkshopInEnglish sir i have some problems when i printa figure with parts, the parts connector are bigger so they dont enter, what could it be?
Merci d'avance
I have a pro m5s but it is not present in the software... how can I do? is so new that there is neither on the original software nor on care and not even on lychee

Thank you for your feedback!
Thank you so much for making this video! You're explanation is very clear. I'm going to prepare my first model in Lychee soon and this video was super helpful.

Great tutorial, thanks for the insights!
Love that you also angle 45 degrees the usb
Awesome tutorial! Thank you so much for making this!!!!
Excellent explanation of the software! !
very helpful
looking forward to seeing the channel grow Thomas. thanks very much.
Details are shallow as everyone is saying? Everyone seem to think M5 is better then M5S 'cause of the detailing.
No, they are sharp, if you calibrate well your resin. The LED are way too powerful, then it's too easy to overcure your print and then, losing some sharpness. On top of that, the ACF film will slightly smooth the details while the nFEP of the M5 will produce better result. Oh, and the screen protector not help as well. Then if you put an nFEP without a screen protector on an M5s, you will have the same as the M5.

Very nice tutorial, and model. Keep up the good work
Thank you!
Great info, Saturn 3 is on my list for next printer.
Good printer :)
how much is this sold for?]
According to their shop, the thing costs €1,130.50 plus shipping. You can get much better printers for that.
@@retronikersuch as?
@@retroniker hahaha wich 1, the only one its ultra reflex and thats it in this market...
Your english i perfect..I think ..🤔😵💫🤣
I love the "I think" :)
@@PolyworkshopInEnglish I'm say "I think" because I speak english like a spanish cow... 🤔🥴🐄
very marvelous accent. !!! J'attends la mienne (en aout) J'ai pris un package kobra 2 / m5s. On verra ce que ça donne.
What pros and cons compared to Saturn 3 Ultra ? There is no review for features like fail print detection and diagnosis
So far, it's difficult to compare as I just get my hands on the Saturn 3, non ultra :) But I got a failed print with the M5s which has not been detected, or I stopped it earlier than the detection system?
I've designed some chian mail that is made to be printed as small as possible, originally I made the rings less than 3mm wide which is 4x smaller than anything I could find, and now I've got it to 60% that size 1.6mm, it's so close to mini scale but I don't think I can do much better on my saturn 1. Would love to see how much better these 12k printers can do something like this, let me know if you want to try it and I'll send you the files
Only person I know to use both this and the Athena 🤩
Yeah, I'm lucky :)
Comparison?
Is this self-levelling like the Mono M5s? It doesn't look like it, but if it's got a force sensor, it could be I assume.
No, it's not self leveling. But IMHO, it's not needed at all as leveling a resin printer is usually easy.
Supports leave way more scarring and removal is a lot more difficult after curing. Print > IPA Wash > Remove Supports (Warm Water) > UV Cure
This is what I do :)
