First trial on British Army vehicle for high-powered laser weapon
A lightweight portable high energy laser system is the first laser weapon integrated on a land vehicle to be fired in the UK.
The advanced capability demonstrator will help the Armed Forces understand the utility of LDEW systems against an evolving threat.
The next phase of testing will involve trials with Army personnel later this year, further evaluating the system’s capabilities and benefits in real-world scenarios.
The low cost system is fully portable and easy to operate. The system can track multiple targets at the same time.

I still find Star Peace the better alternative for mankind than Star Wars.
Russian language does not have word 'Peace' in it.
With them developing that type of weaponry, I just hope they are aware of the disruption they will ultimately cause to the industry as it currently is. You’re gonna be taking a hell of a lot of money off the table for a lot of people. Stay safe 🙏🏾
Gibt's schon lange.... Maui.....
Welcome to Ukraine, here we have the best facilities to test your great equipment )) Almost each and every night tons of drones flying less than 1 km from the surface, so you can choose any to shot down with your laser-gun.
only some american can think that this game can be like realistic just because they don't know what war is in reality
Typical ad-like presentation but the flaws are immediately obvious. How much does a wave of drones sent to take one of these out cost and how much does this thing cost and, more importantly, in a war context, how many of these things can be made daily? Think about how many ultra high tech parts are involved here and how fragile and complicated their supply chains are. It's immediately obvious this anti-drone solution is impossible to deploy anywhere close to as easily as waves upon waves of drones. Finally, consider the reaction from drone makers. This thing can hopefully track relatively predictable drones but it's super unlikely it's able to track fast, low-flying, twitchy, FPV-driven drones already in use in UA. It's obvious it doesn't just ZAP! targets. It takes a few long seconds to burn through each one. Now think how it will fare against a swarm of fast drones coming to take it out. Not well is my bet. And this is all before considering seriously advanced military drones, not the commercial repurposed ones used in UA. Pretty sure advanced militaries already have swarm navigation where 5-10 drones fly as a pack but a human operator only controls one at a time while the rest follow the leader autonomously. Such a swarm is still pretty cheap and it's impossible to take out before it reaches your expensive radar+laser+etc.
typical russian reaction on something advanced ))) What are "military grade drone"? Shahed 131/136 which flies on 300-1000 m of elevation with a speed of 180 km/h?
@desild5869 There is no weapon that is perfect against everything. If it was to be used only against some low budget drones, it’s still good since it does not waste that much money on missiles. Why use expensive missiles to take down a drone worth say 1k$? Good example is Izrael and hamas, where hamas uses shitty rockets for couple hundred dollars, but isrealis Iron Dome has to use missiles worth like 50-100k$ to take them down. And regarding tracking, I think that tracking system can be very accurate and the lasers can be adjusted just as precisely and fast since they move with the speed of light.
@@krzysztofkowalski4784 kinda less than speed of light. Regarding "low budget drones". Above I mentioned about iranian Shahed 131/136. Do you consider them as "low budged" or "military grade"? Average elevation they fly is about 300 meters, sometimes lower sometimes much higher. But their body made of fiberglass based on epoxy resin. i thing this laser gun is one of the most perfect weapons to hit such drones.
Just waste of money. New drones are resistant to military-grade lasers. Please educate yourself

What if the object has a mirrored surface, would it still work?

@@nzer19 that's a loose connection. To suggest you can't be critical of weapons development because of this is ludicrous

Nice one James 👍🏽
Silver foil.???
the problem is not only cost effectiveness but the ability to identify low temperature pass drone or uav to shoot it down
I want one of these new weapons and how much does it cost?
There is no team here. When I think of the team behind a laser weapon, I expect see dozens of optical engineers, programmers, electrical engineers, etc. These are just a bunch of corporate bozos, willing to sell a much fancy gear as possible, with matching maintenance contracts. And they certainly don't want to talk about the inverse square law, or what a spec of bird dropping will do on that output aperture. @0:53 this cable management would get me fired. @0:55 These minuscule laser warning signs are hilarious ! Are these your new UKCA variants ?
Nice! Can't help feeling whoever looks after "the rules" will be coming for you for danger to eyes (for laserdew) and to medical electronic devices. Is the cutout in structural element visible at 0:03 part of a range like (decepticon, autobot)?
I really don't believe Michael Green, Corinne Stockheath or Sebastian Fox.. the man doesn't know his own name let alone about deployment of lasers.
enabler of mass menticide & democide
But how does it *sound*? Does it go "dew-dew-dew"? That "£10 a shot" thing could do with a video of its own.
00:16 Ooo electro optical systems... Nice 👍
That scratch, dig , and dirt on that AR coating is really impressive.
It is hard to believe they are still using dice and NOT using computers?! Surely not?! It looks like a social event down the local games club, not a serious British Army war game.
I am surprised. I did not know these things could be used for purposes other than burning houses in places like California, Maui, north Texas…
Idiots.

Freedom of speech. But not in England. 👎
It's like Dr No.
Can this device also destroy real drones like the Iranian Shahed 136, or just "toy drones" like the one at 0:29? With a maximum range of only 1000 meters, it seems pretty useless on the battlefield. It can only be used to protect individual buildings or ships at best.
It is GAME CHANGER. Another
Nice bit of kit! Now give it a cool name, I suggest "sun spot"
Really good to see this stuff coming together. Hopefully this and others like dragonfire are brought in large numbers given their cost to shot ratio (should pander to the treasury) and used to defend assets that are especially vunerable to drones, both civilian and military as seen in ukraine.
Thanks ❤
