Congratulations to the Western Cape for just doing what they are supposed to do. Shame on all those other municipalities outside the Western Cape who are focused more on stealing money than doing the basics. There is no excuse for their poor performance, it's not rocket science.

This is a very interesting & relevant conversation. I for one, fully believe in the value of Digital Twins & Calayde's work in the field excites me. I could miss understand Calayde's statement 4:38 "where people go isn't really a private issue anymore because we can see that and Google tracks it anyway". But if I just go by these words, I can't agree with an assumption that "because one party does something / this is happening, that it's obviously a green light for everyone to simply do the same". There are definitely more to consider here. There are many examples where large corporations (Facebook, Twitter, Huawei) infringements of ie. people's privacy & free speech is challenges and found to be unjust. I understand the need for data. It just sounds a bit dangerous & "wild west" to assume tracking people's movement without their consent or knowledge is justified on that basis. How do you think certain data can still become open & public, but by design, can be done in a more responsible & respectful way where participants have an opportunity to choose if / how their data is used?

Well articulated feedback on issues surrounding local authorities and a call for community satisfaction on service provision.

In addition to professionalisation, there needs to be a strong code of conduct with consequence management in the local government sector. Local government is the engine of each community. A weak local government sector renders poor environment susceptible to external influences such as corruption etc. "If you have weak systems, it opens the door for external infiltration and influence.” LG Mpedi I commend in your bold steps in strengthening the local government sector and may success be your reward

The major question is how do we professionalise the leadership from the Ministers of COGTA, SALGA and Local Govrernmnt and Executive Mnanagemnt to ensure a top down approach. How many of the Ministers in the aforementioned positions have worked in Local Goverment.

What scenario do we envisage in future with land fragmention leading 'urbanised' rural scapes to the detriment of food security.?

Legislation is required for Grey Rain water tanks to have standard mosquito control measures, like sieves on inlets and outlets as mandatory.
