The Chinese boots are garbage.
Worked a crab deck, longline deck, and gillnet deck rotating three pair for four years before I had to get the made in chinas. I was lucky to not spring a leak in six weeks in the Chinese crap.
I fished Kodiak in the 70's and 80's. I met Louie a few times, and was kind of in awe of him and the Artic Lady. Real Highliners. Personally I didn't want to work that hard. I didn't have the determination or motivation or whatever it took. Also I just didn't want to spend my whole life at sea. But I could appreciate the dedication when I saw it, and Louie had it in spades.
Nice video Sarah. I want to let you know that there is life and love and meaning after you put the xtratuf boots away for the last time. It's on the inside, not the outside.

Fantastic video! If only the boots were still as tough as the people who wear them. Sad to say, as I cling dearly to my aging USA made Tuffs, I've switched to Grundens; after throwing away dozens of Chinese Xtratuffs, none of which made it more than 1 year of use and abuse in AK. Extratuff will you ever go back to your old quality that made you famous?
Just another "sell out" company like most of them all now! There are a VERY FEW amount of remnant brands still out there who didn't get greedy. Time to go elsewhere for good gear that ain't sold out to China. Xtratuf went xtra-shitty. They deserve to go bankrupt. To think of all the many years of being loyal, diehard customers and this is our reward? Screw them! Refuse to buy their trash unless they bring manufacturing BACK to the USA!

The movie is interesting it shows the dedication and risk needed to bring in the catch and having top notch gear really helps. I’m personally a huge fan of xtratuf and constantly convincing my crew mates and other sailors that they are the best grip out there ever IMHO. I’ll be arriving in Juneau Ak soon sailed across from Hawaii, we will all be gearing up with xtratuf for sure. Can’t wait to try the new flip flops

I adore it here. It’s the official footwear of Alaskans everywhere honestly. I adore my Xtratufs and wear them daily winter, fishing/hunting seasons, and summer.

I’ve had my trashed out Xtratufs for far too long 😂 way too many years. I love them with all my heart though. They’re by far my favorite pair of footwear.
I'm chasing a pair of boots from the brand, here in Brazil they don't have them.
Moved manufacturing to China, quality went down, and price went up. How do you justify that?

Just bought a pair of these today at an England marine supply. I'm a size 8 in regular shoes, I got these in a 7 and they feel nice and snug. The 8s felt too loose for my liking. They do feel nice though, looking forward to see how they hold up.

Bought these boots from strike zone a year and half ago I wear them once or twice a month if that, they fit great they are comfortable they are easy to put on and take off but the bottom sole separated from the upper part of the boot. For $70 the soles shouldn't come apart from the boot. Yes I have buyers remorse, my $25 shrimp boots from Walmart have been worn thru hell and back and guess what? The soles are still on! Extratuf my ass try extra-expensive. Maybe extratuf should come with a free bottle of gorilla glue so you glue your soles back on.
