Been playing FaB, but it was very difficult to start playing due to NO PRINTED RULES in starter level products. A simple quickstart insert as a box topper in Blitz precon boxes that the LGS can provide or a book in Classic Battles Dorinthea v Rhinar (it had a lore book?! Why no rules or quick start included?) If you are in anplace lacking a FaB community, its internet research and a lot of trial and error before the game feel starts to be enjoyable. Many players may abandon before getting enough reps in to enjoy the game.

If you really wanna cheese it up and go infinite, Blasting Station would be an auto-win with a persist creature. Tap BS (appropriate abbreviation lmao), sac your persist creature, ping an opponent, the persist creature comes back untapping BS and then repeat.

Im definitely on board with the Lizard gameplan but instead of Jasper I'd put in Florian myself for extra value given all the damage that is going to be happening before the post-combat main. Also Mogis just to add that extra level of pain.

Honestly I think in every Flubs deck you need Song of creation to double down every time

just buy a tricky terrain precon throw the fool into it and pimp it with some red and other cards and et voila

i've got one for you; Uba Mask. it fits nicely into most flubs decks because it essentially functions as an unorthodox yet brutal stax piece for your opponents, and it allows you to have a wider selection of cards to play during your turns while you continue to get card draw for having an empty hand. the only issue with it is that stax pieces tend to be lame to play against, but you should be able to close the game pretty quickly with how much advantage it gives you before people get too bored.

note that effects like walking atlas will not count as playing a land, so it won't trigger the frog

Flubs with tons of maddness cards is the way ima go!

I really want to build a deck around flubs, but unfortunately one of the regulars in my pod plays Selvala, Explorer Returned. If anyone can make you draw a card at instant speed when you cast your last spell, you draw the card, then immediately discard it, making it so you can't draw one with flubs.

Really like your Temur lands version of Flubs. Would definitely go this route if I didn't already have landfall decks already. I love taking game actions and this guy seems perfect for that. I just wanna dump my hand and draw cards!

Man the money and online client are the reason to play FAB themselves. I don't get time to play commander much and I do like pauper but I have a friend that's getting into fab and we have decks we can just play whenever and it's great! Part the mistveil really got my attention to try it out even though I had tried earlier with blitz decks from older sets

As someone who plays EDH/Limited, and tried out FAB, I both love and hate the game for different reasons, and part of it may stem from my local play group, but there's a couple of different reasons the "barrier" feels a bit more (based on my experience) - Cost vs Optimized. While most of the cards are inexpensive, not all of them are. at one point I wanted to play Uzuri, but things like Flcik Knives, Tunic, and what not are built into almost every single deck. Then you look at cards like Already Dead (CAD 65$), Leave No Witnesses (15-20$) and things like Codex (60$+), to make a "good" deck, you need to shell out some serious cash. And while this does not apply to all heroes (I bought a Bravo deck off a local for 250$, Fai can be built pretty cheaply), if there is a hero you really REALLY want to make, to make an "optimized" deck, there's not a lot of "good" substitutes. As well, locally no one wants to do Blitz, so its exclusively CC or draft or SOMETIMES UPF. While your cards may or may not be used elsewhere, if you decided to play an entirely different class, unless you have Generics, then you need to buy those cards for that hero. After that, there are probably also heroes that might not play certain things. Maybe your Red Line Assassin deck is moving to Nuu who runs a lot more blues. Now some of your cards may be "dead" and unplayable till another hero comes out that wants those. Not to mention if you play a hero and end up not liking them, you are stuck with those cards unless you can trade or off them. - Card Availability. Locally, unless you are apart of the Discord servers or know about the discord servers, none of my LGS' sell singles. As a MTG player, I know that buying singles is the way to go, so when singles aren't available, it can be tricky to build or even get your hands on cards. As well, with the high demand for some "staple" cards, or even just getting some of the more obscure commons and rares, you may have to go to more than one website just to get what you need. "I'm getting half my deck here, one card here, ten from this store" ect ect. - Diversity. While I get that in competitive settings, knowing that your opponent may or may not play, what you can expect when you sit down across from a certain hero and stuff, the diversity of play pattern is too consistent. If I sit across from a Bravo player or a Fai, I can think of most of the "good" cards in their deck. Which, again, in a compeititive place is great cause its easier to play around those cards. But unlike EDH, where every game is different, every turn is different and the varience is appealing. I watched a Kano player kill me the same way three different games and at no point was I like "Yup, that was fun, let's do it again." - Player Availability. This one is local based so take it with a grain of salt. I've shown up to some nights where its just me and one other person. I've also shown up and there's like 10 people. The participation ratio locally is hard to justify wanting to go. "Am I going to play 3-6 games tonight? Or am I only going to play against one person. Due to availability, I cannot participate at one of my LGS' where it seems a lot more people attend, which is a shame but it is what it is. My other issue with this is because you run into the same people, unless they have multiple decks, you will face the same people day in and day out. The other thing is (locally), I am much more likely to find a game of EDH than I am FAB. I feel like if I took an EDH deck with me on vacation, I'm more likely to find randoms wanting to do that rather than FAB. FAB is indeed fun and different from your typical game. Games are pretty quick and you always feel like you are taking game actions and progressing to the end of the game. Unlike magic where you start from nothing and build up, FAB playing backwards makes for really interesting play patterns and strategies. Due to where I live, I feel like FAB is just not as popular as MTG. People are more invested in MTG than FAB - financially and time

Former FaB player that went back to magic, and why i'm on hiatus: 1 - Ties are backbreaking. You're basically incentivized to determine one player to concede rather than take a draw. 2 - Every match is the same. Maybe it's due to the time I was playing but every game felt like I was blocking everything until I could finally turn the tide and start striking back. Mind you, thus was during Starvo and I'm a Dori main until I die. 3 - Lack of interest from close friends. Some of my friends tried it and loved it, but many either refused to try or didn't like it. I have the same problem with my actual favorite card game: Netrunner.

Honestly? Rudy being heralded as a driving force behind the early success of the game for being his scummy, Gordon Gekko-wannabe self. I can't stand him, and the fact that a speculator who's been pretty open about his disdain for LGSs gets a celebratory promo card for hoarding the base set so he can set prices is a hard pass for me. Sorry.
