    I added one to the 2015 Winnebago Via (25" motorhome on a Sprinter chassis) before we even left the lot where we purchased it. We were able to spend a couple of days on the lot to check out systems before returning to OH form western NY. We've owned two travel trailers with roof top AC units and a Newmar Bay Star with their closed AC system (ac units don't open to the motorhome) and the Coleman Mach AC on the Via is pumping out the coldest air we've ever experienced. The noise reduction is very good and I hear a definite change in the frequency range after installing the Silencer. I believe that the best results depend on being very thorough with the sealing of any leaks with the aluminum foil tape. I used what was included with the Silencer as well as part of another roll of tape I purchased. Thanks for posting the video, and I would encourage any owner of an RV to consider installing the Silencer. Their not cheap, but the "cool" benefits will make you glad you spent the $$$.

    • @ayeartovolunteer
      @ayeartovolunteer Před měsícem

      @davide8629 you can absolutely charge an array but they should generally be balanced meaning that their states of charge are generally similar. There are some other rules regarding voltage and amp hour differences. Will Prowse here on CZcams can go in more detail but he has charged an array with different battery chemistries as well to dispel some charging myths, but as long as your batteries are connected in series/parallel at the correct charging voltage, no probs charging an array.

    We have a Montana 5th wheel and experienced a part failure for the hydraulic system. Getting a knowledgeable tech to come to the rv was a NIGHTMARE. The extended or manufacturer warranty refused to cover it on site. And the tech was a good 'ol-boy selling & swapping parts until he found the problem. And warranty did pay! They didn't want to pay for a tow truck & damages. So now, we are well versed in how to bypass the control panel to retract the slides or raise the jacks. Or both. Never expected to have a second failure! Definitely have a spare on hand now! It's an insurance (fingers crossed!) we won't need it. (Part # 421484 RV Auto Leveling System)

    I've had a few brake related incidents, 1 human error + 1 mechanical failure. Once, I got to my destination and backed into my parking spot. When I back up, I turn down my electric brake controller. When it came time for me to leave, I forgot to turn the brakes back up. I was in the city, was approaching a red light on wet pavement, and I ended up locking up the brakes on all 4 wheels on my truck, stopped just before entering the intersection. Quite dramatic. What was funny, there was a cop sitting at the intersection, and he just starred at me for a while until he got the green light and left. I turned my trailer brakes back up, issue solved. Another time, lucky for me it was dry pavement, I was approaching an intersection when my cab lights began to flicker, my gauges died, and the cab filled with smoke, and then the engine shut down. What's bad about that is, no engine = no power steering, and on my truck, my brakes are hydroboost, so no power steering = no brake pedal. Having lost electric power, my trailer had no brakes either. Lucky for me, I maintain my truck as best as possible, and I still had the parking brake, so I locked up the drive wheels on my truck and avoided catastrophe. Turned out that the main wire to the engine's starter rubbed against an engine mount and shorted out that it melted both batteries into plastic goo. Just for reference, my trailer (about 9,000 lbs) is about 1.5X heavier than my truck (5,700 lbs)

    • @ayeartovolunteer
      @ayeartovolunteer Před 2 měsíci

      Man oh man, what a story. Thanks for sharing. So, yesterday, I checked and realized that we had another issue - the 20A fuse on the (+) lead for my 12V power to my trailer brakes had blown. That means that even if the 7-pin was fully plugged in, we still wouldn't have had trailer brake power. We've been on flat grades for months so not sure when this happened but this was a slow train wreck by the time we hit the grades. Thanks a lot for your own experiences and contributing. It was embarassing for me to tell my story but we all benefit from sharing our experiences. This is how I rolled in the military and won't stop! Thanks again for the comments.

      Yep, I obviously used them too much trying to slow all that extra weight down. We also found a blown fuse on the 7-pin positive today. Not a banner moment for us. Thanks for watching. Very much appreciate the feedback.

    Wow! That happened to us on the same trip. We left Escapade Sunday heading out and for the first time it happened to us. It was speed for us…my husband didn’t use the engine break enough, but also was going to fast.

      Wow! Not good. Even typically safe RVers make mistakes and we put this out there as a reminder to stick to the checklist and check everything. There are some great comments on this video so take a read on what to look out for since it happened to y'all too. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. We may not feel as bad now! haha

    People who buy m/h with air brakes and no nothing about how the work, just amazes me. Take a class about how they work, how to check, and how to adjust them when needed. You guys are a menace on the road. I'd be ashamed to post my ignorance on CZcams as you did.

      I appreciate your opinion but I'm not sure you watched the entire video. The problem had nothing to do with my air brake use going down hill - I just needed more of it because we had no power to our trailer brakes. Yep, embarassing but if just ONE person learns from our mistake, it's all good. Have a great day!!!

    Thanks so much for the reminder. Yep, complacency has bitten us before.

    Now that the brake material has been overheated the brake linings are probably glazed and possibly cracked. Should have them inspected. Next the axle bearings were also overheated along with the grease seals. Don't be surprised if you have an axle grease seal fail soon. Next the tires were overheated and compromised. Don't be surprised to have a tire failure soon. I have almost 2 million miles driving Class 8 Semi Tractor Trailers. Seen it all, or almost all. Oh, warped brake drums more appear soon. Good luck.

      Thanks for the comments and feedback. We're taking the coach in to get everything inspected in a few days. The tires are almost due for a swap so I'll probably do those at the same time.

    South Pass. I’ve been over it Southbound out of Lander, loaded with Sheetrock. It’s a long steady pull for sure, but I didn’t think it was 7%. I’m a truck driver. It amazes me watching people drive their RV’s the same way they drive their Cadillac’s.

      Sunset rest area on I-17 north of Black Canyon City Arizona. Going north out of Phoenix. It’s a steep climb for 5 or 6 miles. In 110 degree heat. Pickups & RVs going right pedal to the floor all the way up. Many of them pulling trailers. When they top out at the rest area, they catch fire & burn to the ground. You can always see several melt spots in the pavement, where someone has burned it to the ground.

      @@redmesa2975 we've seen them! So glad they're widening that section of freeway so we can get around 'em. Now you're making us miss home!! :)

    Man, glad you guys are good. I recently decided to get back to using my checklist. I almost forgot to pin my hitch. Complacency is a killer. You all be safe and hope to see you soon.
