I use mine all the time for hiking. In honor of the old anti-communist rebels in Nicaragua I use their method. Sides pinned up with safety pins (cowboy hat style) with two small safety pins on the front set as the Christian cross. If you ever need the pins for repairs backpacking, you have 4!
