If you are in Maine, absolutely! The entire system has been down all summer for all libraries that participate. It has been a bit of a nightmare 😩 I'm not sure if other states are also having issues.

@@Townsendhouse1 We are in Maryland, but have only been here since the pandemic, so I'm not used to all the systems yet. Pemaquid Point is my favorite place in the world--I wish we were in Maine! I hope they get yours up and running soon.

Yes! The holiday stickers come with the Teacher Planner, they are printed in all the other EC planners. But the Teacher Planner is completely blank.

I do have space above my cabinets! I never think to put anything there because I am woefully short - meaning I can barely reach the second shelf of our cupboards. I do have a step stool ladder though, so maybe I should store some stuff up there. Thank you for mentioning that!

An accordion file folder is a great idea! I got these little baskets on Amazon a few years ago for some Christmas presents, but I had an extra one. This seemed to be the best use for it!

We homeschool, so we are able to start whenever we want. We consider ourselves year-round homeschoolers, and choose to do school at different parts of the year. We also take a big chunk of time off in December for the holidays. I know that some public schools start early because of the weather, if it is too hot for kids to be outside playing, they end up doing school during the hot months, and are out in the nicer months. People that start that early tend to be done with the year at the beginning of May rather than mid-June.

Honestly it depends on the month. This month it was just like I shared in my video - I start with my personal and family command center calendars, move onto homeschool planning and my kids' daily habit trackers, then focus on my notebooks which are my book journal and my goals. I usually try to get my tending list done for the next month as well, but sometimes that bleeds into the weekend depending on how much I am considering when it comes to my goals for the next month. I like to revisit my brain dump notebook and see if there are any projects on the lists that I can move over to concrete dates, or if there are things that I need to spend more time thinking about. I essentially go through all of my planners, take some time to consider what is most important in the month ahead, wrap my head around any appointments and activities we have scheduled, look at the resources we will be working through in our homeschool in the month ahead, chat with the kids about anything they may need for passion projects, new learning, new books I may want to read etc. And then a lot of journaling, and sitting to consider things that I have put on my brain dump lists that I now can focus on. Absolutely! Although I might have to go back to my old way of planning weather - m-w on Sunday when I set up my week, and then Th-Sun on Wednesday because our weather changes so often in Maine it is hard to have an accurate week 🤣🤦🏼‍♀

Not usually. If I needed a reminder to remind them to actually do the chores, I would put something like "chore check-in." That is because I have a calendar on my fridge that tells the kids exactly what they should be doing, so I have already put in the work to plan out which chores are done when and don't need to do that again. It could also be helpful to have a time when everyone does their chores together, like a home management block in your day. It doesn't have to be long, it could be 15 minutes, but having that dedicated time built into a routine would be helpful if you are transferring more chores to your kids.

Figuring out high school credits is really going to be dependent first on your state requirements. In my state we do not have separate high school requirements, meaning I decide what counts as a credit. For that reason, I have used the very basic carnegie units method of 120-180 hours of "work" equals 1 credit. Some curriculum will have an estimated credit amount. One resource that has been really helpful for me is the book "Setting the Records Straight" - amzn.to/4bIgrcc (affiliate) This will be "English 10" on his transcript and count for one credit. We also do daily written narration and some writing projects, including participating in NaNoWriMo every year. Something that may be helpful is to look at the program of studies for your local high school. When I look at that, I can see they read about 3 books and a collection of short stories, work on essays, etc. But, that book I mentioned above was really helpful in settling my nerves a few years ago when I started having to write a transcript for my oldest!

It is crazy to me how different the schedules are based on which part of the country you are in, but I also totally get it! The kids up here were in school until the third week in June 😳 But, we finished up our curriculum in May, so it is time!

@@kayegenin123 you are correct! But I don't need the whole textbook/answer key because we use the online program. I'm only looking for the appendices. Totally fine for me to print it out, but sometimes it is easier to just purchase something already done 🤣

@@journalofahomeschooler we have a dedicated homeschool space in our basement, but for some reason the kids would rather be on the couch or at the dining room table (or in my bedroom 🤷🏼‍♀️). So now the current year's books stay in my office and the homeschool bins live on a bureau in my dining room. I need to declutter more...I hope you get everything organized quickly and easily for your new year!

I am actually thinking that this year will be a win, book-wise, for my guy! It's funny because he absolutely LOVES reading, and all of these genres are right up his alley. But, as soon as I put a list in front of him, he has no desire to read the book 🤣 I blame my rebel nature rubbing off on him, but so far so good with 20000 leagues, so I am happy!

I think maybe they put it in because some states require you to submit curriculum plans for approval? We don't need to do that, thankfully 😬
