Flattening an end grain slab with a router sled.

This video shows how to flatten an end grain slab using a router sled. This method also works great for end grain cutting boards or any other slab that needs to be flattened.
The router used is a 20 Volt Dewalt XR Brushless palm router. The bit used is a Freud 1/2” Double Flute Straight Bit. A larger bit would definitely work depending on your sled and router combo as my router had plenty of power to turn a larger diameter bit than I was using.
The sled that I used was quickly designed and constructed using the following:
*5/8” thick plywood for the rails and sled
*1/8” thick hardboard for the friction/sliding surfaces
*3/4” thick mdf for the spoilboard

This was my final test of my 22-23 mousetrap car on Wednesday, 2/15/23 at 3:30 pm. I finally was able to remove the bad bearing from the front wheel and replaced it with a new bearing. The combination of the new bearing and taking a bit more care to properly wrap my strings resulted in a run of 227.5 feet. This run did require 2 lateral adjustments to keep the car from hitting the walls.
