Ash Ranges is open for a few weeks in the summer so we thought we'd take advantage and walk a few of our favourite routes during the week.

Dick Focks Common To The North Downs Way

Stole this route from Slow Jen who stole it from Jo who stole it from Sam and wow what a route. Lovely woodland for the first half although glad I had the waterproof shoes on and then lovely open views along the North Downs Way. Mia chased a few pheasant and rabbits and many many squirrels but was well behaved around the roads and is such a good girl.

The Black Mountains

Today (8th May) was the first anniversary of the death of Mara so we decided to adventure over the border to The Black Mountains in Wales to make some memories. Perfect day for a hike and with 700m of elevation the legs felt it. Miss you Mara every day ♥️
Arundel Bluebell 10k

Thought after yesterdays race we would just plod round this one but Mia having none of it. 3rd male and 6th overall despite being in the "Senior Veteran" category 😂 just short of 10k and average pace was 5:07min/km so super happy and Mia proving once again how amazing she is.
The New Forest 15k Race

The postponed race from March. The "New Forest" 15k was a bit of an ask, not sure it was actually in the New Forest and most of the course was farmland and roads but Mia was on fire and we went out way too fast. Average pace was 5:19 which was good enough for 4th place but we'd have won the 10k race.

There was a new firmware update for the Insta360 Ace Pro so I can use it directly with the DJI Mic 2 and as the sun was out thought we would test it out in the sun and wind over at Swinley Forest and Barossa.

We do love a Hankley Common walk especially when the place is quiet as the smells and noises are amazing for Mia. We walked 11km and Mia did 18km today so she was on fire then home to see the new lemon tree and battle the fat squirrel.

After yesterdays hail and wind it was nice to see a bit of sun. Chobham Common still very muddy and not recovering as well as it should from all the pipeline work and other destruction but the girls had fun and the bluebells are starting to come out.

I've spent a bit of time trying all the different action cams and wanted to see how the GoPro 11 stacked up against the Insta360 Ace Pro. To be fair to both cameras they are set to standard profiles so could be tweaked a bit but for 120fps it has to be the GoPro for stabilisation but for picture quality seems the 360 Ace Pro is slightly better, especially at 60fps because it has the high stabil...

Yes was "fun" when Mimi tried to trip me up on the steep downhill and Mia helped by trying to chase a sheep
On the few occasions when Mia stands still, she seem to assume a pose like a dog being presented at Crufs.
She knows how to pose that's for sure

GSP Owners probably need an extra weight handicap.
If your GSP is walking beside you it is probably unwell ... or you have a sausage in your pocket.
What a beautiful day for it! I live in the area and this walk is one of my favourites. I also love that viewpoint, on a clear day you can see Woking, Guildford and the faint outline of the London skyline. We are so lucky to have to all this MOD land open to the public!
Those close-ups reminded me how silky GSP's ears are.

My ideal Palace would have plenty of routes for GSPs to go running, swimming, sniffing and pointing.
I am not sure I could imagine doing that with one of my GSPs. I am sure I would have ended up being wrapped around a tree.
It can be chaos at the start but that’s part of the fun

It is living the dream ... except when you get taunted by a phesant and have to stand up on your back legs in frustration. Do the pups' trackers record their distance travelled? It would be interesting to see how much further Mia travels than Mimi.
They do although they both also have an old Garmin watch exactly for that - so yesterday I did 13.7km, Mimi did 14.4km and Mia did 16.9km which was quite short for her, she's normally about 1.4 times what we do.
@@mara-mimi-mia I never measured how much further my GSPs travelled in comparison with me. But I would have guessed it was somewhere between 1.3 - 1.5 times. Dows it also track Mia's top-speed?
@@garrytuohy9267 not easily but looking at this mornings "walk" Mia hit 1min 44seconds per km which roughly calculated is 21mph

Greate idea to daisy-chain the Lead together. I don't think I have heard Mia barking before. But GSP's are not know for barking. Unfortunately, they are known for rolling in the smelliest things they can find. I still dread every time I see their paws wriggling in the air ... could almost be a lyric from a Julie Andrews song.

Love this. We have a choccy Lab and a new puppy - a Lab x gwhd pointer. Puppy is off scouting while old Lab bimbles along looking for poo to eat! Happy dog days 😊
I know that sinking feeling when you see your GSPs paws up in the air, as it rolls in the stinkiest substance it could find.

Great . I used to live in Seale and drink at the British Legion Club in Elstead but now live in Chile
I am always amazed that a GSPs nose can keep up with its paws. And I noticed that when Mia walks her body is at a slight angle, which is just like my GSPs.

About 9 miles total
Imagine if you could attach a transponder to Mia ... would the Drone be able to keep up?
That's the dream but think the tech is a few years away yet but we'd buy that day one.
I am sure Mia could clear that fence and she probably will clear it some day when the sheep get too tempting.
