    Great opening!!! A strong theme develops, nice quieter change then it steps up again to a resolute theme, then quiet and we delve into the very well done sounds reminiscent of the movement of creatures of the forest and then into a whimsical feel that leads back to a resolute theme, not convinced by the end of this part though. Again exits to quieter water sounds like rain in the forest! Beautiful. I wrote this live as I Listened first time to bypass conscious thought in framing responses. So it’s just my genuine initial impression. Thanks for the beautiful music. Definitely sounds like a forest!

    This is fantastic, especially given the fact this is your first mock-up! I would suggest further experimenting with different convolution reverb settings and panning to further enhance the perception of depth. I don't have this library, but from what I saw it has heaps of mic positions, the combination of these could be used instead of convolution reverb as it gives a 100% real sense of the room and depth.

      Hey! I don't think Orchestral Tools aim for implementation in Notation Software. I know that Spitfire has some articles on how to use their Libraries in Sibelius, but they do not recommend it. Neither do I. You have more creative control working in a DAW. I only use Sibelius as a Notation program, and never as a playback device. Good luck!

    Hi, I'm just starting out and I'm really disoriented. I've a lot of free libraries but I can hear the difference in quality of the commercial ones. I'm still esperimenting with genres so, I don't have a style or a voice. there are many all in one offers in this price range, even only from spitfire itself. do you think ARO is a good choice? considering the lack of legatos and the numerous add one that will come out in the future it could be one of their more expensive. Usually when a company sticks the "abbey road" name on a product it will become more expensive eve if the quality is the same of some products of their "normal"line do you think this is the case? between spitfire products I'm constantly switching interest between Abbey road One, BBCSO and Albion One. if you should choose one of these what would it be?

    • @JelleProost
      @JelleProost PĹ™ed 3 lety

      Hi! 1 - Spitfire's BBCSO was the first library I ever bought. If you want to have the maximum control of instrumentation, I would suggest going for an orchestral library. If you want to have a very basic idea of BBC SO before spending anything, you should check out BBC SO Discovery. I think you can get it for free if you fill in a survey. If you want to tweak and adjust every single instrument of the orchestra, BBC is the way to go. 2 - Albion One for me is a good sketching tool to get fast results, but with less details in instrumentation, since it only consists of ensemble patches. You can't tweak individual instruments... But you can get a big orchestral sound. 3 - I haven't worked with ARO so I can't say much about this library. I've browsed through the patch list and it seems to me that this something between Albion One and BBCSO: It's still is an ensemble library but with more control. So it basically comes down to how much control you want to have (and which sound you like most too!) Most control: BBC SO Fast sketches: Albion One You can also check out the walkthroughs and demos of these libraries. It gives a good impression of what you can do with them. In the end, the choice is up to you. Hope this helps.

    Very nice! Is there any particular reason why you opted out of using BBCSO exclusively and included additional libraries?

    • @JelleProost
      @JelleProost PĹ™ed 3 lety

      Hey! Good question... 1. I wanted to get to know my other libraries better and 2. CineSamples provide legato control, BBCSO doesn’t, which is okay if you write big orchestral passages. For a more delicate piece like this, I prefer to be able to control the legato. On the other hand, articulation programming is more intuitive in BBC (Spitfire in general). As for the Berlin Brass: the library provides a dedicated sample patch for each individual part (horns 1-4, trumpets 1-3, etc.) whereas BBC only has 1 solo and an a2/a4 patches; so this was for the purpose of color. Hope that helps!

    • @um5548
      @um5548 PĹ™ed 3 lety

      @@JelleProost Thank you very much for such a detailed explanation. I was afraid you might bring up the legato for BBCSO and I fully agree with you, there's only one type of legato in BBCSO which is inadequate for a piece such as this. As for the Berlin Brass from what I've seen it looks like the most detailed library on the market given all the expansions. I guess there is no other way but to have more than one library in order to cover all the options. Looking forward to you new material.

    • @JelleProost
      @JelleProost PĹ™ed 3 lety

      Hi Matteo. No, although it is possible to run the library in Sibelius. (And I think it’s not recommended either). I can’t see how you could have as much control in Sibelius as in Logic (or any DAW), especially dynamic-wise.

      @matteogalesi7761 PĹ™ed 3 lety

      @@matteogalesi7761 Maybe its possible to have articulations, such as staccato to be played when there is a staccato note in Sibelius. I’ve seen people do it, but what’s interesting is that they actually have a hidden track that has all the key switches. It is a bit tedious though to program.

The most important one is that the left-hand accompaniment consists of the tonic-triad notes; the right hand should move in small steps (diatonic melody). Have you listened to Pärt's 'Für Alina'? here the composer tries to explain his tintinnabuli-style. /watch?v=c08i_9gumJs Thanks for your comment. J.
