After being in Paris in June I’ve decided traveling around the Olympics is fun. Some road closures, but really cool to see the set up for the games and made it cool to watch on TV. Also with the opening ceremony showing so much of the city 😍
Yay just in time tor lunch break again lol This looks like such a chill trip aside from the little work you had to do. How fun!!!
The theme of this vlog was “bed head” lol
Thank you for sharing this wonderful trip vlog! So happy you and Tia had such a great trip! 🇫🇷
Public Utility Companies prices are controlled by the government, how does this info help give you an idea about VP Harris’s plan for food price controls.
This aged tremendously well with the announcement of the pro shoot they’re doing this week
My algorithm is recommending this four months later, but I’m glad it did - love your energy! I took myself on a Tonys trip and saw Outsiders, Gatsby, Illinoise, Water for Elephants, Hell’s Kitchen, Merrily (the matinee of Tonys night!), and Sleep No More, opting for premium orchestra seats; I always tell myself you can’t take your money with you when you die. Front mezzanine is a good time too though, and probably more worth the money for some shows! I saw Gutenberg in January and your view made me spit my water out…I can’t stand that they even offer that as a seat!
As a former house manager and usher coordinator for a Lort A. (I'm old.) Rain on their parade. Dampen their experience. Stop coddling people. That's why audiences are getting out of control, in theatre and live music. Set strong boundaries and hold to them. And back up ushers when they have to deal with these people. They'll end up being nicer to everyone else. Have pre-show announcments, audio or live in house, and maybe even video in the lobby on theatre etiquette. Be kind and inclusive, but firm. The myth is that this will make people not want to come to the theatre when it's exactly the opposite. People don't come because the minute they hear about these self-centered jerks they don't want to drop the $$$$ and risk one ruining their evening. More people are considerate than not, and you have to create space for the considerate to feel welcome. It probably means yondr bags and giving up on viral curtain calls, but it'll be better in the long run.
I love that you and Chelsea are hanging out , I've been watching her for almost two years .
Groban walked on stage at opening night.
Thank you that was very informative😊👍
Hope you had fun in France. Loved Mattress! Such fun. Job was very intense, with excellent acting.
France was so needed and so delightful!!! And really enjoyed both Mattress and Job as well!
I like Left/Right Aisle Seats in the first 8 rows. No Center Orchestra, or you'll be stuck looking at the back of someone's head the entire night. Next fav is 2nd Orchestra AA and Front Row Mezzine generally gives you a better view of everything than sitting in the Front Row - which I generally go for. Front Row is great, but sometimes I feel like I have to move my head a lot and depending the stage layout you weirdly don't always see the feet. It's hard to explain. But yes, I don't like sitting behind anyone where I'm in danger of stairing at someone's head. I can be 2 row center and hate it because of that.
Bravo! Loved focus on luxe price vs luxe experience. Excellent perspective.
This came at the right time!!!! During my lunch break :) watching now ❤️ Can’t wait for this!! You’ve been amazing at everything you’ve been working on Love Chelsea too!! Love my NYC vloggers
Ahhh thank you for watching and thank you for taking the time to comment! Also Chelsea is TRULY the best ❤
Let’s go to fraaaaaaance!!

I am in africa, how can i benefit from fiverr
Daamnnn! I've only made about $30k on there since late 2017, and I'm in music and audio category as well.🤦🏾♂️. I'm from Nigeria BTW. I need to up my game FR.
First of all, love your videos, I live in London but adore New York and whenever I’m in the city I try to go see shows. Why aren’t more shows available via streaming platforms? I’d love to see musicals and plays that are currently running. I know this doesn’t fill more theatre seats but it would bring in a good chunk of revenue and also make more people aware/willing to travel to see the real thing. Is it a cost issue? Is it because of legal rights? Thanks for all that you do, love your channel and appreciate your passion and hard work!
Hi - can you tell us what other platforms you are using now?
What are your other platforms?
Would you recommend row O center orchestra for Lion King? Thanks
I love broadway Reddit
I think Gutenberg recouped, right? Did Merrily recoup?
@@yankee04 yes, both did. Gutenberg was close to the end of the run, but it did recoup.
I just watched this and your 'how to fix Broadway' video and they are so interesting! I have nothing personally to do with Broadway except for being a big fan (and knowing people who do/have worked on it), but I love hearing about this stuff. Usually I can see 2-ish shows per year, although last year it wasn't possible. That made me pretty sad because I wanted shows to succeed or there were limited engagements I missed. But I see surprisingly little online despite following people involved. Sometimes I go to a show's Instagram page and it doesn't help much either. The Great Gatsby I have definitely seen more from, and it's so cool to hear you're behind that! A pet peeve of mine personally is ads/general marketing that gives you no hint as to the story. Maybe it's supposed to be intriguing, but in a lot of situations I'm not going to pursue it further. The Band's Visit is an example of that - the posters were so vague, even Instagram ads. I finally heard from my therapist about the topic/story, saw it twice (had to take my husband) and was obsessed.
Thanks Katharine. Is there a link to the summary report you mentioned? Are you going to do more on this?
as someone who works FOH on Broadway, wow I agree!
Would be fascinating to see what a broadway marketing campaign from theatre owners would look like
That's a cumulative inflation of close to 25%, but the yearly rate is just over 4%
I saw your IG story about this and I just wanted to hop on and say that your videos are so fun and thoughtful and engaging. I am a pre liscenced therapist currently getting license in the state of NY and it's been really hard. Your videos reminded me how much I've missed theatre and it inspired me to go see shows, I've lived in NYC for 7 years and only in the last few months have I actually seen things. It has helped with my work and training burnout and makes me feel so alive and and I leave with my cup filled. You got this!
You're right on with the "bonkers scarcity mindset" on pulling in new audiences. 'Seasoned' marketers are just used to 'pulling from other audiences vs. new audiences' because it was seemingly easy low hanging fruit and in robust financial and travel time periods, they don't really notice that it doesn't work as much as they 'think' it works. I've been working with a professional regional theatre (since '21) bringing them back from covid and we've had tremendous success... because I am not from the industry and brought in my own experiences from building my own businesses and how I get customers, etc. I didn't have the 'industry blinders' that you're seeing from your fellow 'broadway marketers'. With 2-3 theatres a week around the country shutting down (NEA numbers from 2023), and everyone blaming 'the economy' and yet... people are paying for other live performance experiences like Taylor Swift... people refuse to step off the 'cast blame on something they don't control' platform (eg: the economy). AND, when some theatre's are exploding (the one I'm working with is up over 300% from covid, with new and younger subscription members, new and bigger donors, bigger audiences, etc), it's disappointing that they don't really want to know how to fix and grow, they'd rather just cast blame and hope it somehow disappears. Anyway, so many thoughts, so many conversations, so much to be said and done about all of this! 😀 I am very happy to see you digging into what's really going on and not just casting blame like most in the industry.
Interesting. My knee jerk reaction to why it no longer recoups is its so fricking expensive OMG. Hate to say but before Covid aside from shows like Beetlejuice at the Winter Garden audiences were mostly older folks, seniors who had the money who sadly have dwindled in numbers since the pandemic.Whenever i visit shows in the states and I had this from my very first visit to Williamstown Theatre Festival in 1988 I am so often the youngest in the audience and I was in my late 40s early 50s. As someone who lives abroad and has to book before i come to ensure a seat as its the reason I come to see specific shows I dont have access to any discounted ticket prices. The rise of stunt and star casting meant that after casting was announced the cost of Appropriate at the Hayes went from $150 to over $300 a ticket and I was coming to see it several times. Luckily also wanted to see Spamalot and managed to score a bargain there. But in a cost of living crisis and with the price of everything going up it's not likely to recover fast. We MUST ensure that theatre remains accessible to ppl with all sizes of pocketbooks.
Hi Katharine, I sent you a message through your website. I hope you received it.
Can you talk about the economics of touring? I see most shows when they go on tour so is that a negative for them to tour instead of stay on Broadway longer?
From what I know, there are a lot of factors that can play into the economics of a tour. If it’s closing on Broadway and going on tour (like Kimberly Akimbo, Summers, etc.) can they use the sets, props, etc. from the Broadway run or do those need to be rebuilt so they can be assembled, un-assembled, and packed in trucks easily and fit onto various stages across North America. Do aspects of the set/ show need to be redesigned to accommodate show traveling to different theaters (IE the slight set redesign for the tour of Hadestown)? How long is the show staying in different cities/ shows performed in each city? Are the shows selling enough seats? How expensive are accommodation/ size of cast and crew (how much of the crew is local v. traveling)? Is the tour and equity tour or a non-union tour (I saw people protesting the non-union tour of SpongeBob the Musical pre-pandemic 😮)? I’m sure there’s other factors I’m forgetting too.
I don't know what the conversations are like BTS but my understanding is that tours are pretty much always profitable, but you need capital to mount one. So most touring shows are either doing so well on Broadway that they can pay to duplicate the costs of paying casts, building sets and costumes, plus the traveling costs and mount a tour while continuing to play in new york. Or maybe the show didn't last that long on Broadway but just long enough (6-12 months?) to cover the costs of closing in new york and then repurposing what they can to take it on the road. Shows that were successful elsewhere pre-Broadway (like &Juliet) seem to announce tours comparatively sooner into their Broadway run than shows that are still finding their audience. Just some trends I've noticed.
Visiting NYC this week to see as many shows as I can. Seeing Great Gatsby, tonight!! Yeah, from the show schedules and viewing various vlogs, I gathered that the cast/crew get only one day off, generally. Eesh! Looks like everyone works their tails off to give their audiences the best show they can. From what I’ve seen, looks like they’re having fun with their performances, which is great! I hope everyone takes the time off they need to get away for a minute. Thank you, Katherine, for the video! And thank you to all the talent out there bringing these shows to life.
EXCELLENT show!! WOW!
Broadway is live theater at it's best
OMG super inspiring!
Love seeing you grind Katharine!!! so happy for your continued success and rise :) every time you upload a vlog i come running!! also lol @ the SOS!!!
Just got tickets for my daughter and I. So excited to be able to see these two in person 😯 on our first trip to NYC for our birthdays! Thank you for your introduction, now really curious AND excited!
I'm just glad you've seen State Fair. Hopefully it was the 1945 version with Jeanne Crain and Dana Andrews, and not the awful remake with Ann Margaret (it wasn't her fault, it was the script).
Yes. It was a commercial for the other R&H musicals. They’d play a bit of South Pacific, “I’m going to wash that man right out of my hair”
That was a full week! I hope all the positive things youre working towards out weighs the red tape and politics youre having to deal with. People have a hard time with change as do deep rooted establishments. Lets hope enough decisions makers see the needed changes as mutually beneficial to audiences and people in the industry.
Boy, it's such a roller coaster. Truly. Usually as soon as I get incredibly upset about the red tape and accidentally doing something wrong, something wonderful happens. And vice versa. Maybe it's life? Or maybe it's more dramatic cause it's theater. Or maybe it's me. :)
Very informative stuff! Thanks!
Well, to quote The Big Lebowski, "That's just, like, your opinion, man". I think it's a whole lotta fun and would definitely see it on Broadway. I didn't have any problems with the accents or the storyline. And plenty of "British" shows have done exceptionally well. "The Play That Goes Wrong", "Six", and some have won Best Musical Tonys like "Billy Elliott". Best of all, it's based on an unbelievable but true story. The songs are equally funny and heartbreaking like "Dear Bill". If it transfers, it's #1 on my must see list.
you're the best 🥲💓✨loved hangin out!! your grind is inspirational as always
Ditto! Wish I were as on top of posting in real time the way you are! Still aren't caught up to your cameo :)
No rest for the weary. Looking forward to your JOB and Mattress comments.

Remember when I saw It Ends with Us before all the stuff came out about Blake and Justin??? 😅😅😅😅

All the things I want to know! Thank you Katherine 🥰
More pricing variety especially things like student membership, clear deals small group deals discount pricing.. I believe a show did date night two for one seemed like a useful concept
