Although it might not be an official government language, Cantonese is still a unique dialect that can not be replaced. Many colloquial sayings and jokes can only be interpreted with Cantonese. I am a proud Cantonese mother and my passion is working on passing our Canton culture and language to my son and the future generations.

I love your use of 毛筆, but i think stroke orders are just as important. Just saying 😊 or maybe the stroke orders I've learned are not standard in HK. I went to a Chinese School operated by Taiwanese 🤷🏻♀️ I think China, hK and Taiwan all have slightly different orders on some words.
I agree with you Stroke order is important as well. (I am not the best at it) You are absolutely right, depending on where we learned it from, stroke order is slightly different. (Which I learned recently)

@@KaiYanWongI think the best option is to have both english and spoken canto subs. Or maybe just the cantonese subs, and people can use chrome extensions like migaku, or pop-up dictionary. Thank you for listen to feedbacks ! 🙂

Hi there Im cantonese and my husband doesn’t speak it. In our household we speak english only. So my daughter has adapted to speak and think in english. I speak cantonese to my daughter as much as I can, she can understand me, but how do i encourage my 3yr old to speak more cantonese. What was your experience?

hello mommio! we are in a very similar situation, hubby speaks English, everyone around us speaks English, my son told me he just wanted to speak English before he turned 3. what helped us: 1. I keep speaking to him in Cantonese 2. online Cantonese classes (when he saw many other kids speak it, he wanted to too) 3. I look for Cantonese families around us and be their friends. 4. we ask my son to teach dad Cantonese and translate for other family members. As he was getting older he realized I tend to say yes to him more if he asked me in Cantonese. 😂 I have some old videos of my husband reviewing some Chinese characters with our son by using jyutping. maybe I will post that. let me know if you are interested in joining Cantonese chat with other parents on Friday night. I hope that helps a little, keep it up and don't give up! add oil
