I had a hard time hearing you in this video. Not sure if it's on my end. I had to put in my earbuds and crank up the volume. Hope you're doing well. How many more Crichton books do you have and how long do you think this reading project will be? How's school?

This book was unusual in that I liked the first half and then when they actually went back in time, I thought it kinda sucked.

I read The Cather and, in the Rye, when I was younger. Interesting, I liked it and his writing style. I got Nine Stories I just loved it, even more than the Catcher in the Rye. All of them are great but the 2 that stick out for me is The Laughing Man and Teddy. I had forgotten about Uncle Wiggly.

I read it when it was still a trilogy. I didn't get the feeling it was especially for kids.

LOL You don't look anywhere near 63 years of age. You don't have any wrinkles. A girl in another country asked me to help her with a book I read because chat ai wasn't helpful. I don't know if she was lying, but I couldn't help her with details because I read the book a year and a half ago. People don't want to work. I thought it was just here in southern KY. There is one company who actually returns calls and actually shows up, but every time I hire him something gets broken. Last time it was a window, which still needs replacing and a picket fence and a chain link fence. There's a company my neighbor used, but their schedule is about a year out. Crazy. My brother has experienced similar issues in South Carolina. I've not read any L'Amour books and I've not read any graphic novels. but you're right, those drawings in that book looked great. I hope your power didn't go out!

I love Butcher’s Crossing. I’ve read it twice. Absolutely brutal in its depiction of buffalo death. I’ve promoted it a few times on my channel. I also like his three other novels. Chat GTP did a good job.

It's been ages since I've read Bell Jar, but I didn't like it. I thought she was extremely whiny. Based on the increased issue of self elimination, she probably would have chosen the same end. =(

I don't mind the videos of books that you've read earlier in the year, like this one and the one of the Lost World by Crichton. I think it shows what about the books are memorable or things that stick with you. I also enjoy the casual nature of your videos. It makes everything feel grounded, and that you're really just a guy out in the world instead of an internet personality. I"m happy to have a backlog of videos to go through man.

saw that this video wasn’t getting as much attention as it should. i picked this book pretty randomly for a school project and this video is genuinely the only place anyone has spoken of the book 😂 explained very thoroughly and i’m pretty sure the ending has something to do with exploding the lab. i can’t remember well either, probably the books fault 😅

I love that you talk to the tech. I'm usually incredulous with tech and if it continues to be a pain, I yell at it. It's very therapeutic. LOL I dnf'd The Lost World when Malcom showed up. He died in the first one. What was Crichton thinking?! this is one incidence where the movie was better. I think the movies were great for their time. Great seeing you. I didn't see dirty laundry. What were you talking about? 😂

Nice commentary -- think we're about on the same page. I haven't read this since the mid-90s. My major memories are that Crichton brought Ian Malcolm back from the dead (as you mention) and that a momma T. Rex fed some dude to her babies in a nest (So and so fell...). Oh, and I remember that Malcolm took an awkward chapter to lecture the other characters about Crichton's opinions on evolution and extinction. The book was okay I guess, but it was pretty much just more Jurassic Park. Have a good one!

Hell yeah man

Steinbeck talks about the destructive existence of capitalism in this book, as in many of his other novels. The winter of our anxiety tells us how people's basic value judgments are tested against the power of money. The existence of money becomes existentially important for the struggle among other people. Even those closest to a person bow to this power. Even the most honest people have difficulties from time to time and give up their values instead of fighting... We can see that the author reflects the hope in people in the most beautiful way, even in the face of great depression.

Just finished reading it after checking it out of my local library. I friggin' love this story, absolute A1 read 👌

Paredes, not Padres. Later in the story he is referred to as Don Paredes; he's a mob boss. This story is a sequel to Borges' earlier story, "Man On Pink Corner", which tells of the night Rosendo walked away from the fight with the Butcher. Themes for the story include the shifting nature of identity and controlling one's image; manhood/masculinity, violence, etc.

I thought it was just "pretty good". Maybe a weak 4/5. But for whatever reason I never really got into the movie as a kid!

I'd fire them both and thank you for keeping it PG. LOL

Omg love Tolkien! Hobbit is a great place to start! LOTR is a lot easier if you watch the movies first. I got so lost the first time I tried to read the books before watching the movies!

I haven't read The Hobbit, but I was told that one should be read first. I have read LotR and seen the movies. Much success to you for your 2024 goals.
