    It's late july, and I'm about to head to the boundary waters. I might consider getting the cocoon, but buying a separate full bug net that can go over the whole superiorgear hammock.

    Hey i just purchased a old stumpjumper pro frame, need wheels seat, brakes and pedals. It’s a m4 and some 100mm forks, what size tires can i use

    • @livinlarge1247
      @livinlarge1247 Před 2 měsíci

      Nice! The 26" frame I have can run rear 27.5 × 2 tires...no problemo. The front is a 27.5 fork, so I cannot say for a 26" fork, though the 27.5 wheels only seem mildly taller than the 26". The 27.5 wheels I have roll pretty nice, but I do see how, say at Wal-Mart or wherever bikepacking on the fly, that 26" is still the most common size.

    Been thru hiking with mine for about a month now, really like it. However its annoying to put back in the stuff sack. They could have made the stuff sack slightly larger. Don't have the mummy version though so you might not have that problem. Already got down to around 15F ontop of a mountain with it.

    • @livinlarge1247
      @livinlarge1247 Před 4 měsíci

      It's tight. I sent Nemo some remarks to open the mouth of the pump sack a little bigger so the pad rolled in half can fit easy. The First Lite did fit easy in its bag. The Nemo Bikepack Tent I tried would not fit back in its bag easy, but the Hornet did. One would think getting the bag right would be easy.

  • @goiterlanternbase
    @goiterlanternbase Před 4 měsíci

    No one produces an appropriate bag, like never. The best that can happen to you, is having a old bag, that is slightly larger, because the old thing the bag was for, was much larger and also wasn't fit🤗

    Is there plenty of shoulder room without tie outs like a Blackbird XLC or Simply Light Trail Lair?

  • @paulkhanna1
    @paulkhanna1 Před 4 měsíci

    @livinlarge1247 So I've taken mine down to 18 without an issue, but you do want to make sure the down is distributed along the baffle. You can just brush the down with your hand from one side to the other. Shug has a video where he shows this, which is where I picked up on the trick. edit: You can get it suuuper warm if you distribute the down asymetrically on your lay- head right feet left or feet left head right, but shouldn't need to do all that.

    When you mentioned the smell I was wondering the same is it because its getting exposure to moisture. I agree it is a lot better to be under a tarp in a hammmock in the rain vs being stuck confined to a tent. The shawnee in southern Il is a beautiful place. Thats where I'm from.

  • @Tortomus
    @Tortomus Před 6 měsíci

    Im newer to gear, picked up a Nemo riff, I like the shape it isnt too roomy but allows you to sleep on your side comfortably. Along with the waterproof toe box for condensation on the tent walls. I guess the womens version has way more insulation then the mens. And the down supposedly has a coating on it to help prevent moisture absorbing.
