Has anybody come to full body routines from following a high intensity split routine from Mike Metzner -which was essentially an upper lower split with 3 to 4 days off in between workouts. I’ve tried the full body routine off and on with pretty good success, but I just felt that I didn’t have the stamina and there wasn’t enough blood volume to get the pump as I started getting the weight past a certain point so I switched to a high intensity split routine but giving adequate days off. It’s kind of weird because you only train a muscle once per week, but so far it seems to be working. Did it work better than the full body? Tough to say - I kind of like doing the full body, but certainly not doing three sets per body part and spending an hour and a half working out

How much can he do without the bench body suit ? My guess would be at least 100 pounds less if not more. I agree that he is amazingly strong but I personally don’t care for these assisted bench presses. It’s like a big padded bra, what you see is not what you get.

Thats why you train with slow reps both on the positive and negative, or itll become a cardiovascular exercise not a muscular exercise. Time under tension. Holding the weight works the muscle much better than pumping out rep after rep. I only know that due to Mike Mentzer, although Leroy showed me fullbody training years ago. Also, I agree with the 1 minuet between sets of the same body part, but that is IF you are to do multiple sets. I personally believe its far more effective to stimulate muscle growth by warming up very light to moderately, then performing 1 heavy time under tention set slow on the positive and slow on the negative (count of around 4 or 5). As Ive previously stated this keeps the work ON the muscle and stops the exercise being a cardiovascular activity. The muscle does not know its doing 'this' many reps etc, all it knows is that its being worked as it has to hold the weight. Id personally say the work is much more intense and extreme doing it this way also. This will require more days off to rest and grow but resting is where the progress is made
