I’ve used my Swiss champ more then I believe I ever would. If I need to gram my Leatherman at that point I just grab the actual tool I need.

Hey @Flatlander! Thank you for the follow up video. Thanks to your videos on the Sten Jacket, I recently decided to purchase one second-hand in excellent condition for 1/3 of the retail. There are so many great deals out there for Fjällräven goods with many years left in them! I do have some gripes about this jacket. For context, I have the same height, but slightly slimmer all-round and weigh in at 77kg. First, even for a long, lanky guy, the arms are quite long. I don't seem to have this issue with my other Fjallraven jackets or shirts. Second is the zip flap. Trying to zip this jacket with one hand all the way up/or even till the bottom of the neck, is a hassle. Third is the cuff buttons. Although they are superior to a velcro alternative, the opening is way too large for a normal wrist, and in the tighter configuration, I can't take my jacket off without unbuttoning them to release my hands! Onto the positives: I read that some people thought the hood was too large and impractical. I disagree. It's perfect for my big head and doesn't give that constricting feeling I get with some tighter/smaller hoods. The jacket as a whole is 'over-engineered.' It's not light by any means, but you sense it'll go further than your GoreTex alternative and can take a substantial beating. Thirdly, the pockets are all massive - which I love! Keys, phones, wallet, juice boxes for the kids, a bag of candy, would all fit comfortably. So A+ for practicality. Time will tell how it holds up. My slight fear is the fading over time. For example, all my pants have fading around the stress areas which cannot be brought back through Greenland waxing :( Anyway, give us another update when you hit a decade with the jacket ;)

The tool/knife industry still is good but you just need to spend more. Comparing 10$ knives back then to 10$ knives now isnt equal. Also many military items had the "army effect" where they were mass produced and made to last. These were so abundant that it became the lowest quality. Now the lowest quality is what you find fir a dollar as old ones go bad or have a owner.

I'm 55 and I have my dad's original Swiss champ which is almost as old as me.

I’ve bought a pair over the new year, They are more comfortable the the vidda pro none vent & lighter, Don’t feel as durable maybe I’m wrong as the vidda pro. Zips on side for vents has plastic stitch sometimes it digs in your knee, The crotch material seems the 1st thing to wear off.. there not cheap. They are comfortable & feel classy. Lovely review.

Well, it's definitely not common for someone to wash their jacket every week, so the zipper degrading after hundreds of washes is maybe not all that surprising ;)

Thanks for your second review. I have one of these, had it for two years.. the hood could have do with a cinching cord to tighten down, zip could have been better quality, but other than that its a nice jacket for spring/autumn.

you just need some lubrication on the zippers and they are as new again. some silicon grease or similar.

Do you prefer these over the original Vidda Pro? I saw you did reviews on both, but are curious which one you prefer.

Great video. I love these pants. Have many pairs myself. Haven’t put them to the test yet. They’re very expensive for sure but I do believe the quality is there. Big fan of the style and practicality !

Just got one today. It's trash. Card slot doesn't even pop up correctly.

I had a Chinese copy of the champ that I since got rid of due to it just being shit. I’ve recently got a super tinkerer for a gift, and I love it but I do miss some of the tools that were on the copy. Maybe I’ll buy a genuine Swiss champ someday.

This company is full of trash. Their backpacks errant or errant pro die pretty quickly in the sun and quickly crack and die. They won't read your emails or respond to you. No guarantees. Complete ignorance of your problems. And the backpack was thrown into a landfill. Their accessories also crack quickly. For example a bag aux. So think twice before buying anything from them.

I miss some info about layering… as far as I can see you might use it only with t-shirt… I don’t think there fits much more… Are you using another jacket when real winter comes? Or you get to layer it somehow??
