Compared to german freight trains, this is still very slow. In germany they can speed up to 75mph and they still 765 yard long. The fastest freight train in german did 100mph, but that's few years ago.

My friend you are standing far far too close. I worked train wrecks many years ago and have seen cars scattered way beyond where you're standing. Also strapping for securing loads sometimes breaks and becomes a metal whip.

In India they haul heavier and longer trains than these with just 1 engine at 120kmph

Actually a bit slow compared to what I saw them doing back in the early 2000’s south of Waycross. Speed limit technically 60 for slop freights, but the engineers routinely looked at that as a “suggestion.” I paced them on the highway going 65+ on freights.

My brother was a UP Freight conductor traveling almost entirely from Rocklin, CA. either over the hill to Reno or up the central valley for Dunsmuir. He told me the tracks were so busy they never had a chance to "let loose" and fly.
