Our original idea with this new channel was to share our travels to destination bike trails........however, my wife passed away this past January and through a series of events in the last two months my new intention with this channel is to share how outdoor physical activity can be a fun way to stay healthy as well as a way to work through the loss of a loved one.
For 34 years, we loved to garden because we owned a design/build and maintain garden construction company which focused on creating large estate gardens on the east coast and now here in the Midwest. In our free time we loved to kayak and most importantly ride our bikes. And through Cheryl's two year journey with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, she could always hop on her recumbent trike with a big smile on her face and ride 15-40 miles....and this channel is a celebration of our combined loves of cycling and gardening......I invite you to come along on the ride and Remember to Lead with Love and Kindness......

Last minute garden tips to protect your plants during winter & I get to use my ghost buster backpack
zhlédnutí 36Před 7 měsíci
Every year, late in the fall I use a backpack blower ( I always feel like a ghostbuster) to remove all of the leaves at the base of both my client's and my ornamental shrubs. This eliminates a nice warm winter condo for the local varmints like mice and moles that like to eat the nutrient rich bark off of your beautiful ornamental shrubs which will most likely kill the shrubs the following year....

Most gardeners thing their work is done when the last perennial is pruned in the fall. I like to add one more step to all of my client's gardens as well as my own personal garden. After I complete all of my fall pruning, I like to apply an animal repellant to all of the perennial crowns, the tin bark on ornamental shrubs as well as the lower 6' of any specimen trees. Homage to David Rides a Trike and My Wife's 2 Year Journey with Stage 4 Cancer

When my wife was surprisingly diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer we began researching options for her to continue our 34 year passion for riding bikes on trails. We had already begun to look at recumbent trikes prior to her diagnosis as an alternative to allow us to continue to ride bikes. During that research we ran across the CZcams Channel David Rides a Trike. David Goldman was a very inspiration...

Thank you for your review!
How in the heck do you get this set up? It's putting all the weight on my arms, hands wrist, I feel like it is too wide and I have micro adjust this 30 times and still can't get it right.
I have tried everything I know, and several different saddles on my road bike.. cannot figure out how to prevent numb nuts.. 😢.. Going to give this a try hope it’s the answer 🙏🏻
Nice setup. 👍 I think you have room for one more camera mount. 😂 OK, seriously, where did you get the neck rest? I have a Catrike Dumont, the only thing I don’t like about it is the neck rest, this looks like a great improvement. And your Quad lock, so they really are as bullet proof as they say, good to know. Good video. 👍
The neck rest is an adapter kit from Terra Cycle (tcycle)bike accessories. You use the Catrike neck mount base and then the adapter kit. The quad lock is the best phone holder ever! Thanks for watching!
Great review!!
The one time i tride a nose less seat it was awful because the seating position was slightly more forward than a normal seat, witch put an enormous amount of strain on my knee caps. Had i been able to find a layback seat post that would fit, i think it would have been great. Don't know if these would have the same issue.
Nice build. I have an ATV with all my stuff all over it, but it is old and cranky (I've had it since 1992) and I am also getting old & cranky. I am looking at a new rider mower (Ego battery) and am trying to rethink where to put my tool box (large one), buckets, garden tools, shovel, etc, and hanging some on the trailer might be the ticket. I was thinking about making a "train" of the garden trailer with a hitch it to my Gorilla cart. Got some thinking to do. Thanks for the inspiration.
If you are capable, why not just ride a bike? So many fewer limitations.
I have not found any limitations riding a recumbent and ask any orthopedic surgeon or Physical Therapist…. the recumbent trike is the most efficient way to ride a bike. I get the same cardio as on my diamond frame bikes. I also have a Trek Carbon Fiber fatty a Trek ebike and a Trek Marlin 8.0 . Just like you have a bag of clubs to play golf, I pick which bike to ride based on the trail I am on and the surface.
I'm 67 yrs old and had been hiking a small mountain 3-4 times a week. This was working great for me for years until I blew out my knees thinking I could play tennis again, after 50 years. Bought an e-assist, torque actuated, recumbent trike. Takes all that weight off the knees, helps me get up hills, but still lets me out for long rides, great workouts with monitors to keep my cadence and heart rate in the aerobic zone. Total bliss. I feel so much better. That said, there's a learning curve with these trikes. They're not bicycles.
Have any women tried this? Just wondering- I don’t have sit bone issues but I do have serious soft tissue pain. I have a bi saddle on my road bike which helps but thinking of this for my gravel bike. Ladies??
I just rode with my v seat yesterday. Only went about 16 miles and I think it will be awesome when I make some adjustments. It took away all my soft tissue pain.
It was invented for a woman - the company CEO. Real nice people. I just saw them on Shark Tank 😊 and I will very likely get one.
Thanks now I know the Vseat works with a dropper post. Also, I'm an average cyclist for work play commute, and recreational use with miles of ride in the saddle sometimes 8 to 12 hours so I need something that can handle it all with no pressure and no pain like sitting on a comfortable cotton feather-like pillow support.
Great review and lots of good ideas.I ride my 559 and 700 all over the place…..trails only….no roadwork. 10,000 miles per year. I need some of those gadgets. Especially the upgraded headrest!
10K miles a year... I call BS, especially in a Wall-E chair.
@@brianbassett4379 fyi I have two Catrikes and live on cape cod for 8 months a year and spend 4 months in south Florida. I ride 30 miles or more every day of the year. When I take recovery day every 4-5 days I generally do 40-50 on following days. I ride with a group of cyclists and we do a century ride the last weekend of every month. Call bs whatever you want . I have the odometers to prove it.
thanks, saw and wondered about that seat. like your calm honest approach
Thank you for your comments. I will be doing another follow up video on the seat in the neat future.
Thanks for the video. I have been looking at this seat for a few months. But I’m afraid of the unknown. I think I will get to courage to try it out by 2024. I used to do 30+ miles on my road bike easier but I get numbness in my legs and always have to stop and stretch. So I’m hoping the V seat eliminates that issue.
Im not a doctor, so I can't answer that for you. What I can tell you is that I have over 600 miles with the seat on my trek two wheel ebike and I have about 20 miles with it on my Trek Carbon Fiber Fat bike and I have no pain ever when riding.....They are sold out right now and waiting for new inventory.......great seat!
Thanks for sharing, your words are inspiring.
Nice set up, what aftermarket neck rest Is that?
Here you go. Thanks for watching t-cycle.com/products/catrike-conversion-neckrest
this is safe?
Very beautiful!
Beautiful garden
Thank you
You sold me! Great review! By the way, the back fender on your fat tire bike, is that aftermarket? I love it. I'd really like to pick one up for my fat tire ebike. Thanks!
Thanks for your comment. It is a Bontrager after market fender.
Happy to have found your channel! I am so sorry for your loss❤❤❤

AMA sportbikes race around there. I used to watch that race years ago.
Yes, they do that’s a huge event for them. I plan on Riding Road, America again in the next month.
WOW !!!! I loved watching the process vs just before and after photos. Your artistic creativity and hard work resulted in breathtaking beauty. You are making memories for people !
Great Presentation/ Invitation.....Makes me excited to follow along
Thanks for the great review!
You are welcome. I will be doing an update in the near future.
Is there any contact with the perineum?
There are a lot of variables with that. I would suggest that you reach out to the great people at VSEAT through their website. They respond very quickly and are obviously much more knowledgeable than I am in that regard.
@@overthehedgerow thanks 👍
Do you think it will attach to my suspension post: SR Suntour SP12 NCX bike Suspension Seatpost . Says 7mm rails only but more importantly - will the front bend of the seat work with this post?
I cannot answer that questions., If you reach out to the great people at VSEAT through their website, they will be able to provide the correct information.
@@overthehedgerow Hi. They responded NO...
@@barryinny I knew they would have the correct answer and much faster then myself.
Looks like a great idea; but at $117 I'll never know.
I understand. Everyone has a budget including me. If you have the opportunity, they are worth every penny.
I am going to try the Schwinn Cruise Noseless Bicycle Saddle on my ebike. Scheduled for delivery by FedEx tomorrow.
It will be interesting to hear. What do you think of that seat. It appears they are trying to use a lot of foam to create comfort for the sit bones versus the targeted sit bone design of the VSEAT. I would be interested in hearing what you think of it after two or three hundred miles. I’ve got over 600 miles on my VSEATS right now and not a single pain after my 20 to 40 mile rides.
@@overthehedgerow If I can get to the shopping center I visit most without having to take 2 Lyrica to deal with sciatica I will be happy.
@@allenvestal4474 I understand that pain. 23 years ago I injured my back which kept me bedridden for a month because if I stood up the pain in my right leg was excruciating within 30 seconds of standing up. At the end of 30 days and several attempted use by doctors of pain killers the neurosurgeon performed a laminectomy and I woke up pain free and have been pain free for the last 23 years. The only thing I had to give up was golf because of the torque on my lower back. I was on my high school golf team so that was tough. But I could ski, bike and work with no restrictions or pain.
@@overthehedgerow Installed the seat today. Much more comfortable just sitting on the bike but way too hot in Central Texas today to put any miles on the bike right now.
@@allenvestal4474 yeah I live in Wisconsin and it’s 85 today and I was sailing on Lake Michigan all day and it was still hot.😂 I don’t go south of the cheddar curtain, otherwise known as the Illinois state border in the summer.😂😂😂
What are those clamps?
Those side clamps are readily available at Home Depot or Amazon. They are clamps used to hold tools, brooms, that kind of thing to a wall. In Home Depot they are located within the tool department with all the drills, saws and hand tools. Thanks for watching…
@@overthehedgerow ok thanks
@@Car_Media2 you're welcome
Nice!
Thanks!
Nice
Got a red one for my e-bike...love it so far. Had to use a different suspension seat post though due to the front of the seat coming down so just keep that in mind if you use that type of seat post on your bike
Excellent
Thanks for the video. Just ordered 1. Hopefully this will help with my numbness issue, so I can ride comfortably again.
Did it work?
@@overthehedgerow Defiantly better than before. Haven't done a lot of long rides yet, but it seems very promising.
Great seat! I’m 78, and the VSEAT is the most comfortable bike seat I’ve ever owned. There are other noseless seats out there, but this one is done right. Bike riding pain comes from the nose of the seat, not the pad where your sit bones rest. With the nose of this seat turned down, there is no pressure on that area of the groin that hurts with standard bike seats. Very comfortable seat, made in the USA, great customer service…what’s not to love? 👍
Thank you for your comment. People have shared that their previous seats have created pain for them in a variety of areas of their groin :). For me it was my site bones and after 600+ miles on this seat it amazes me each time that I have no pain after a ride. I am glad to hear that you love your VSEAT.
Is the V Seat same width, or wider, or smaller width wise than your original bike seat?
Great question I went out and measured….the original seat was 5.5” wide and the v seat is 8.5” wide. Hope that helps
I don't see how that seat could be comfortable at all unless you are a really little person
Hi Don...thanks for your comment....I am 6'4" tall and 265 pounds (obviously not a little person)......and the seat is great....I know I get it.....looks can be deceiving.......but after 250 miles now.........no going back.......no pain ever.....and I have ridden a lot of bikes with a lot of seats.......
That makes me want to get on my bike!
I'm glad that you liked the video....many more on the way this season :).
