I had a hard time understanding feedback or multi-pass shaders (using buffers), so I'm making this tutorial to help others who might be in the same situation. This also includes a port of this cool "dilated shapes" shader www.shadertoy.com/view/4t3cD2 which uses a "fake SDF" approach to generate concentric rings around an object.

I have written a tool to pack the textures into a single atlas, and procedurally update the UVs so it displays correctly. This came out in 2004/5. Where lots of post 9/11 conspiracies were big in pop culture. Fahrenheit 9/11 on one end and loose change and the infowars documentaries by Alex Jones on the other. This movie tapped into that so well. In the original it was communist China but making this about the military industrial complex was a master stroke. Such a good movie. I still want to know what was the significance of all the cup noodles featured in the movie. Did Manchurian global have a deal with Nissin foods?

Very cool, and nice explanation. Just my two cents, for the alpha instead of doing in code you could use a mono node to turn your image black and white, then a levels or a limit (clamp) to balance it up. Similar at the end you could rebuild the alpha from the rgb and copy it into the alpha using the channel copy or through a vop cop.
Thanks. At the time I made this video I had very little experience with compositing at all. So it was easier for me to just write a Vex snippet than try and figure out which existing node would serve that simple purpose. I appreciate you letting me know there was an easier way though. Since then I have been spending a lot more time in Touch Designer so I am getting more of the hang of things.
@@dissonantprotean5495 welcome, thanks for the video I know its a lot of effort. I think having the vex knowledge will be very useful as there is limited functionality in COPs as it doesnt see as much updating as the rest of Houdini. Great to see this kind of development.

Just so you know: the file SOP brings the image as a 2D volume. You can manipulate it with Volume SOP's. In general is a better way than bringing it with the attribute from map.

I misspoke a little bit. The reason I use Cop2 Generator and not Cop2 Filter is NOT just that it will "preserve the alpha". Actually the `cinput` won't return you Alpha values at all inside a Filter. So it seems like you can only read the incoming Alpha values from a Generator.

Note that the polygon has an incorrect shape when you bring it into COPs, i overlooked that when making the video. I believe you have to change your UV Project method to ensure that it has no tiling, e.g. 0 is the minimum bound and 1 is the maximum bound

@@AsmrFuns1 It's not so simple but yeah along those lines, the mood swings are also part of it. Maybe it wasn't fight or flight the sound of the phone ringing triggers anxiety which triggers ptsd symptoms and people with those conditions are extremely sensitive to certain stimulus, ptsd is triggered by loud sudden noises.
