Tahoetopia.com's live webcam at Jake's On The Lake in Tahoe City captured this dynamic time lapse of the first winter storm to roll in to Lake Tahoe and the high Sierra on Saturday, November 7th.
Temperatures in the teens combined with light, but steady precipitation left 3-4" of snowfall at lake level and up to 9" at the uppper elevations (as reported by Homewood Mountain Resort on the west shore of Lake Tahoe).

Truckee river goes all the way past Reno. In all that stretch you can't find some place to fish??

It's awesome watching the videos of the Wounded Warriors. I know DSAFW is a great asset for the vets and for all persons with disabilities. I really miss the annual trips to Alpine Meadows with Palomar College. I will never forget the support and encouragement I had during my many years there. More recently I have been skiing with a "normy" group. It's not nearly as much fun as the Adaptive Snowsports School. Patricia L. Cutler

In the news today.... Fires in the local areas are currently raging and producing smoke that has smothered Lake Tahoe and surrounding communities. Outdoor events had to be canceled and the fear of an approaching fire is of great concern. You doing ok up there? A concerned drone pilot wants to know. bd

Photobart1 There actually are quite a lot of spectators; just hard to catch them on these GoPros because they are aimed straight ahead at the course. Also, people are spread out from top to bottom--but check around 2:50-2:52 for a glimpse. But yes, the sponsors help and these videos get a lot of play well after the event and many racers and fans wish they were at resorts outside of the Lake Tahoe area too. The party is at Sugar Bowl finals on Sunday--you'll see the crowds then. :)
I am curious how this tour makes a profit since there were no spectators watching the race. Does the tour make their money from sponsorship through the beer company, the ski resort, GoPro or entry fees? Is this race help on a weekend where more people can watch it. Can this tour include ski resorts outside of Lake Tahoe. Looks like a good idea.
Expand the tour to Utah.
