    I'm getting overcooling after 75 miles per hr. Thermostat is ok so what could cause this. The temp goes back to normal at 70. Audi A4 B5 1.8 APT engine. Could the viscous fan be faulty.

    I recently replaced the thermal vicious fan clutch on my Dodge ram only because I was replacing a leaking radiator but I did not know that some fan clutches are REVERSE and installing the incorrect one will cause overheating at idle. The fan on my van spins in the opposite direction to the engine, so the fan clutch I ordered must have been wrong for my model and it kept overheating at idle. I eventually learned how to test the clutch by warming the engine and shutting down while observing the fan, and if the fan spins on after shutdown then it is not functioning correct; WELL MY NEW CLUTCH SPINNED ON LIKE CRAZY AFTER SHUT DOWN. so I replaced it with the old one did the test again and it stopped dead with the engine. I will still order a new one again, but this time I'll have better info.

    I just changed my fan clutch, I was told it was a severe duty clutch but now my truck can’t make operating temp and the fan roars. It’s an 08 6.4 ford. I didn’t change the thermostats but I can make the temps come up if I tow hills with trailer mode on and a/c off.

    Awesome video. One area which I think could have been expanded on is that often times the fan clutch activates on start due the temps rising after the engine was stopped. When the fan is not pulling air into the system after driving the temps rise from the condenser and radiator which activate the clutch since the air is hot and stagnate.

    I have a 2018 nissan frontier king cab 4 cyc it has fan clutch, a thermal fan clutch spring but it is not on water pump either it turn on the serpentine belt so at what temp should it turn and what percentage should it turn. Now if I hand turn it . It turns more than three turns by hand and it started squeaking I put oil on the bearing on it and it stopped squeaking. There is no over heating . Please give information and or ideas

    Great over view on fan clutch types

  • @carlossaenz4075
    @carlossaenz4075 Před 2 lety

    If the fan is used to keep the temp (cool) on the motor, ac and transmission. Why use a fan clutch type and not use a direct type of fan that starts turning when u start the engine to keep everything cool. And it does not make water pump turn . The fan clutch is not electric. I have a 2018 nissan frontier king cab 4 cyc the fan started to squeak so I put some oil on the outer and area of the bearing the squeaking stop . The fan clutch is not running the water pump or any other thing. But I an still going to replace fan clutch to get ahead of the squeaking and maybe failure the fan. But still don't under stand why we really need the fan clutch type and not the direct fan operating with the motor. Please explain

      @@carlossaenz4075 as said you don’t want the fan running all the time ,ie when it’s freezing outside , uneconomical to have fan on all the time ,

  • @carlossaenz4075
    @carlossaenz4075 Před 2 lety

    Why make things so complicated why didn't they have like the old ones this time not connected to a water pump just the way it is now on the serpentine belt but not directly connected to any other thing like the pump show that when you start your engine the band starts automatically because of the serpentine belt

    I replaced the silicone oil with 2 vials for my gas engine van. The engine now becomes noisy on high speed. Seems the fan clutch is stock because I know it should disengage in highspeed.
