Kana was a beast in Japan. It just shows how much wwe is holding her back. I understand she wants to make money, but as a fan of Japanese wrestling, I can't stand the way WWE is booking Kana. Thanks for the match recommendations.
I think it's less money and more that she was kinda pushed out of Japan. Due to her problems with Rossy, Nanae, and other people involved with Stardom, she was never gonna work there. That leaves TJPW as the other big platform but it also does idol based wrestling, so I guess she'd be left to work in Sendai Girls.
At first I was going to be like: “Hm, isn’t it a bit harsh?” But then I am like: “No fucking way am I defending Rossy lol” And yes, I am saying this as someone who just went to Japan and attended 3 Marigold shows.
I appreciate your openness my friend, I'm not trying to malign the workers of Stardom/TJPW or even all the fans, just bad elements like Rossy that makes the industry worse off
@wrestlingwthenarrative I agree and disagree in your assessment of the industry. Top of the list of "agree" is: stop exploiting children. 2019 was particularly bad for that in stardom as then underage SLK, AZM and Hanan were constantly in either solo photobooks or group ones, and it all felt so skeevy even at the time. For adults, I don't think photobooks are a problem? Mina seemingly enjoys doing them (she does them even outside of Stardom). Obviously, this is something that I am probably speaking on as a hetero guy who finds women like Giulia, Utami and Mina attractive, so if there is a scandal regarding photobooks that will happen one day, I'll switch my opinion on a dime. Probably the biggest thing I disagree with you on is attires. I love frilly and sparkly outfits on wrestlers. SLK, Mayu, Tam and others look like megastars in them. Obviously wouldn't say "Joshi wrestlers should only wear that", but idol presentation does have positives...though more negatives that Rossy absolutely brought on in the industry.
Every time you post a video I am so happy 😁
I love that you say "don't call me an idoit stardom fans!" Then proceed to call them perverts, say their promotion sucks, is no different than bra and panties matches and the only good matches are on the indies 😂😂😂. Damn dude tell them how you really feel.
fucking brilliant!!
Rear naked choke? That’s a crossface chickenwing, ya son of a heathen (shout-out to Bob Backlund & Satoru Sayama)!
my apologies to the catch gods for my transgression
The MV makes so much more sense now with the intro. I forgot about it when i first started the video and was HOWLING when Not Like Us hit. FUCK ROSSY TILL THE DAY I DIE
Kana warned us about this shit years ago
Which modern promotion is your favourite? I started watching Oz Academy recently and I'm enjoying it so far. Also I love the Mirror's Edge Shard level music, it's so nostalgic.
I adore Sendai Girls, their roster is so fun
@@wrestlingwthenarrativeAny match recommendations?
Anything involving Chihiro Hashimoto or Mio Momono tbh. Check this one out: www.cagematch.net/?id=111&nr=11117
Thanks. Also I think YT deleted my comments because I do not see it.
From what I could find on Chihiro Oikawa, she retired to get married and is now known as Chihiro Takagi. She later became a professional boxer since 2021. Oddly she was also the only official woman considered as part of Battlarts' roster. Also what is your opinion on the Queen Bee events Battlarts put on?
Glad to hear she's doing well! I've only seen select matches from the Queen Bee events, but I've enjoyed all I've seen
Excellent video. ROH 2002-12 was an alternate reality.
Eddie's right. Your work is great.
This is going to be great
😂😂😂 the rossy bit
Finally got around to listening to this. It was great 😃👍
Great video! I have to admit, I did not think Bob Sapp was good, but after learning more about him, I appreciate and respect his work. He reminds me of Sid Vicious (wrestler not the musician). What he lacked in technical wrestling, he made up with power and pure charisma. His promos are fantastic. I love Sid. And I love Giant Bernard and I agree! He is criminally underappreciated and his work in Japan is great.
Sid is a great comparison. I think as Blair said, people get this attitude that only wrestlers who fit the super worker mold of a Danielson, Mox, or Omega should be allowed exist, but we need these car crash wrestlers because they remind us what fun is. I know the "wrestling is a variety show" thing is overplayed, but if a weekly wrestling show was like 10% Bob Sapp adjacent workers, I could live with that.
Fedor in pro wrestling, my god yes! Come on Josh, shoot that shot.
I think Eddie is working everyone on Claudio, in other shoot interviews, he talks about how much he loves him, only genuine hate is Hero, lol
As happy as I was to see him win all that gold last year, no doubt the last thing I think is left for Eddie is to be THE world Champion & i hope within the next 2-3 years he can do it. Hes too good & too respected not to at least win it & run with for a bit before he decides to hang it up for good.
I think he's pretty much spot on cause it feels like every week, the other folks in the community such as yourself, Joseph, Ethan, Andos, Kim & so on really do a wonderful job spotlighting not only the iconic stuff but also more obscure corners of wrestling history that I doubt anyone would delve into. Honestly, if there was a genre or period I'd wanna delve into, its more Joshi wrestling cause i know theres more great stuff out there than just AJW & Stardom. Its hard to do research, writing & editing on these kinds of things but its your guys' works that keep inspiring myself & others to genuinely be better at this.
I feel like the past 2 years has really been a wonderful time for fans of Claudio as he finally got a chance to spread his wings & reach his greater potential in a main event picture. Especially last year when he won back the ROH Title.
Eddie Kingston, Malakai Black, and PAC are the ones I want to see the most as World Champion in AEW.
I'm late to the party but I loved this video. Liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more.
Thanks brother, see you later this month
Thank you so much for sharing this. Eddie Kingston inspires me every time I hear from him or watch his matches.
You could tell how emotional it made Eddie Kingston talking about people being historians, this was a scene I didn't think we would have a few years ago but I'm glad It's flourishing and hell, I might throw my hat in the ring when I get the chance.

Awesome interview its awesome to know Eddie watches all the CZcamsrs who focus on old school Japanese wrestling. Just like myself.
Every time I see Eddie wrestle, or see him on a podcast, I can smile to myself and remember that they let me write a college paper on that guy.
What class was it for?
@@wrestlingwthenarrative It was a theater class. We had to write an essay semiotically analyzing the last staged performance we had seen in person.
Thank you for making me want to watch this match. I wasn't sure it would be my thing, but I loved this vision of pro wrestling !
Fun video made even better by Push
Its crazy this was 84 but yet again the Japanese were always ahead of the curve in combat sports whether it the MMA stuff , the legendary 80s and 90s AJPW and NJPW to the killer Joshi talent . All a head of their times . Great vid , thank you for this , it was truly enjoyed .
Fantastic video! This match is a true classic and pretty revolutionary for the time.
I love your video essays.
