kirkwood closing day shenanigans I had a super fun day skiing with @justinmtbiking , definitely one of the most fun days that I've had in the past while. The wiggle/snake was the deepest/longest I've ever seen and the snowball fight on the top of chair 10 was something else... What a season, goodbye kirkwood

white tee is me, brown is my friend. we forgot to wax our skis so we had to stick with only a couple runs, and still, those were too sticky... not much to the video but that plane shot was pretty cool, and some of the shots turned out decent

dropping cliffs and learning to backflip at mammoth mountain lots of fun skiing at Mammoth but not too many cliffs that I felt comfortable doing, definitely need to come back on a powder day though. I decided to try to backflip thanks to the guys who were already sessioning the side hit/jump off of paranoid chutes, super happy that I did. Maybe I'll do a flat 3 soon?

do you have a go pro and what are the settings? and what are your poles
I use a gopro hero 12 with some nd filters. Gopro is 4k60fps hyperview 1/120s shutter speed everything else on factory settings. For my ski poles, I use some k2 composite ski poles, been using them since I was like 11 and they have not broken/bended a single time even though I crash bad pretty often

Much more of a party on the Wall. We were rushed off of Cornice. Patrol wanted a beer, and they had to clear the hill before the final avalanche bomb salutes. Thanks for your view of the day.
I'm not particularly fond of snowballs thrown to chairs as I find it dangerous but other than it was a really fun day. Did you guys stay at the top past last chair? I heard top of 10 was the place to be.
We were there until last chair but then left soon after. Lots of drinking and smoking was going on at the top thats for sure

I love them and hate them, they're great for cruising around but I feel less comfortable going high speed with them and the placement of my bindings makes it much easier to catch my tips when doing backflips and they also aren't the ideal park ski.

we split it pretty evenly but i only really included the one tree jump which was mostly recorded by me, the other runs weren't good enough to include cuz the snow was just so sticky

Out of curiosity was this shot on Saturday 4/6? I hit 29" (main lodge) to ~36" (chairs 3/5) of light pow at Mammoth on Friday 4/5, but it was still storming and the top was closed. This looks like what I expect the next day looked like? Unfortunately I had a family commitment and couldn't go out. Kirkwood is ~1200 feet lower, but most of that snow fell at ~15F at Mammoth, and I imagine it wasn't much warmer/heavier at Kirkwood. Must have been epic! EDIT: Looking more I bet this was on 4/2 after the first round of storms? That was also a really good day, but not as deep.
you were right initially it was 4/6 and then only a couple shots from 4/7. Kirkwood got a little less snow but the quality was still good, but the strong april sun melted the snow and it refroze overnight so the next day was an ice fest.

i've been skiing for over 50 years and live at a resort. I don't understand why people feel they need to click their poles together before they drop. It's stupid. 🤡
i’m so sorry that you feel so hurt, i’ll make sure to never click my poles just for you. On a real note though, for me it’s so I can help push myself into doing something sketchy/difficult. It definitely helps me overcome that first fear right as I drop
