I DROVE A RACECAR FOR THE FIRST TIME
Join me for my first ever track day, thanks to Racecar Experiences. I try out the 410bhp FK8 Civic Type R, have a 'whoops' moment and improve my skills.
The goal is to work my way through different cars & tracks, ultimately ending up in the British Touring Car and hopefully competing by next year!

I was recently invited down to @SantaPodTV Raceway for the @Petrolheadonism creator shootout day. This meant passenger rides in supercars, doing my first ever run (and race!) and entering into a competitive shootout. I finally get my EP3 on the dyno and find out what power she makes! It's been a long time coming... It’s great to see females getting on track, as a father to a 5yo! Practice makes perfect and you’ll get faster as you go along, women don’t have the same reaction times as men nor as good of a hand eye coordination so you’re already having to work harder than a man does. One tip, keep your hands between 9-3 and 10-2 and don’t move them, you want to be able to catch oversteer as fast as you can when it happens and this will help that. Then practice rev matching on your daily drives, it’ll help make you a lot smoother on downshifts therefore you’ll keep a lot more balance in the car. Well done, hope you had fun!!

Awesome, just subscribed.... saw these guys at the British Motor Show they were super nice and looked interesting, which also brought me to your channel too. I've done a little bit on track it's definitely more daunting than you think at first, everyone thinks they're a racing driver until you get out there and realise it's not that easy. You did great and looks like a fab day out, be good to see how you progress... it's great to promote low level motorsport like this to young people and women too who might be interested the more the better! Check out auto solo too if you've not already... I've done load of these now, it's another great way get into cheap motorsport in your own car and learn a lot about car control and going faster.

Try and stick to the same track while you are developing your skills. Track knowledge is a major part of getting fast, learn your basic race craft-lines,braking points, gear up and down points. Then start pushing a bit more, when you get to the point of being on the edge you are there, enjoy!!
