Remember when America was America?
Heyhey Silent! I really appreciate that you take out the commercaisl😂 Would you have time to put more content up?❤
My early Shep shows were very time involved,,, due to getting pictures to go with the stories and the editing,,, did not seem to matter to those watching. CZcams provides analytical info on each upload. Some commercial runs are close to five minutes long,, especially around Christmas.
@@silentshep Thanks again Flick Lives 😎
Great story! He couldn't have made that up!
Shep!! The guy that made me love Radio!
Shep, first shock jock.
🎺
🧨🎆🎇🥳
Dago is probably not the name they really went by.
Excelsior Silent Shep...listening in bed, under the covers with my Pittie 😅
That's the john dillinger story
Shep kept me up past my bedtime many nights. I'd have to lean over my night table with my ear next to the speaker so my parents won't hear!
Excelsior ☝️Silent Shep
He's told a similar story about the "rich" girl in class and getting an invite... every now and then he rips himself off.... intentional or did he forget?
probably his greatest crime however, was walking out on Lois Nettleton...she was a babe.
Love his electronics stories!
What a find. Listened to Jean as a teenager in high school, back in the 1960s. He was on WOR- 710 on the AM dial out of New York City from 10:15 pm to 11:00 pm every weekday evening. Most of the stories Jean would tell I relived again when his movie CHRISTMAS STORY made the light of day. Jean had a television program that aired on NEW JERSEY NETWORK for awhile which he entitled SHEPHERD'S PIE. Those were the days. Sure miss Jean a lot..... Thanks for posting....
i know he wasnt syndicated, but did wor make broadcasts available for other stations? i used to hear jean so often on ksfo in san francisco, that i thought he was local
many syn shows from 1970 and 1976 + others including Jean Shepherd America Videos mostly WOR shows edited for 30 minute format.

Heard him tell this story live back when I was a kid and either studying for my ticket or just licensed (He may have told this one several time however.) One of my favorites. And I heard him live twice at Dayton telling some really funny ham stories. Those are somewhere on line as I recall but may take some searching. Yes, I was a regular listener growing up in eastern PA.
Ive been a Shep fan from the beginning and yours Silent since I found you about 5 yrs ago?😂❤ Thanks so much for these Flick Lives !!😎👌
Super dupper
Good to hear Shep's voice again. I remember listening to him on WOR as a kid.
Fun radio show. A kid with a crystal set now days would find nothing but hate for your fellow man.
Not really ,my son loves these old shows as well 😊
They are on KP on the train- feet hanging over the edge of the car with doors open....told at the Limelight one Saturday night. This is a retelling in studio. czcams.com/video/VqC4zUxZyC4/video.html

They used this segment in the 1999 tribute to Jean Shepherd in an edited form. A Voice in the Night was the title to this two hour tribute.
Just wanted to say thank you. Really enjoyed Jean Sheppard
Just re-listened. Still grinning. These shows are worth multiple listens!
Before i read the creator's notes i looked at the length of 44 mins and thought, "Wow! A full ep from the Silent-meister!" Excellent!
RG - Yeah, I use these to help my insomniac self fall asleep, and I am usually still awake l after the 20 minute and even the 30 minute ones. And I go wide awake if a modern commercial pops up 🤬 Lemme see how this one fares for me. It's only 1130 PM but lately my dog wakes me up too early, and I have not been getting a full night's sleep💤Edit at 11 33 PM: Ha ha, I had no idea Shep was going to mention dogs. I have to rewind this to find out why Shep says he is not a dog man. Oh now I remember, he was terrorized by dogs when he was a kid doing a paper route. Lemme see what he says here. Edit 2: Ah, yes. The Bumpus dogs stole his family's Thanksgiving Turkey😂. And now I heard Shep say he did/didn't have a dog, a dog just lived in the home😂😂Edit 3 : 1223 PM still awake☹️
😅
Thanks.. Grew up listening to him on SW. Fell in love with him ,Art Bell and dozen others who deserve recognition. Shepherd's was a true radio showman.
Who else? I listened to him late at night on -- I think it was WOR in NYC. He's fantastic. Then there's Joe Frank, Art Bell.... I'm always looking for new radio.

9:53 - "...Robert Hall sportcoat..." I remember the Robert Hall radio commercial jingle would end: "High qual-i-ty, e-con-omy!."
5:41
Thanks for editing all the fluff that Shep would not do today:) Flick Lives 😂
I had sneezing powder as a kid. It was just black pepper.
With all the insanity going on in the world today and when you feel like you just can’t escape the craziness, just flip on this channel and you’ll wind up with a smile on your face by the end! Thanks so much for posting these great broadcasts from the great Shep! Brings back a lot of memories from those years!
Brings back some awful memories when I used to repair VHS recorders/players back in the 90s and some one would bring in a unit for repair and just by the smell before opening it up, I could tell this needed taken outside, opened up and blown out with a high pressure air hose. YUCK. Some were so bad that I would just button it back up and return it to the customer, telling them I was NOT going to work on it. Also during this period some genius decided to make a movie called Joe's Apartment with talking cockroaches in it. You better believe that I NEVER watched that crap fest of a movie. Another bad experience was dining out at a local chicken franchise and walking up to the self serve soda machine, I could smell that distinct smell. I never went back there again.
Timeless storytelling by one of the greatest storytellers ever! Thanks for sharing.
God I love that guy
I love flying and building / repairing and the different ways and flying characteristics between highwing mid and low and I was constantly trying different motors, props, I've had a couple that went so fast it ripped the wings off. There is a simple rule, you want your plane to stay perfect hang it on a wall and don't touch it. We had planes we flew the shit out and some fly and wipe down and put up on the rack till next time. Flying was just a small part of flying RC Planes..... And is this the guy from "RedRider" BB gun? Love that show
Hellcats started at $50,000 but later went down to $35,000.
The tissue and dope stage is usually where I gave up.
That did not end as I expected. The man was a craftsman in yarn-spinning! Great video!!
RC airplane as a hobby is usually short lived due to too many crashes or lost planes.
14:44 😭....mmmm... its the mice... *WHAT!* ....Its the mice..! *MICE!!! WHERE?! WHERE?! WHERE'S THE MOUSE?! AHH! OOH! OOH HOO!!!*
The old man in A Christmas Story slipping on the skates as he goes down the basement!😂😂
Mermanski? 😂 I ❤ it.
You saturate the ground, drive into the earth two ground rods, then attach to 120 vac AC. Hundreds of the will rise to the surface.
