Rest in Peace to all who lost their lives! The accident happend on Tuesday evening local time by an explosion that has killed at least 78 people and injured thousands more. According to the prime minister Hassan Diab the blast was caused by around 2,700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored near the city’s cargo port. It was the incompetent and flawed Soviet Communist system that caused it. They needed nuclear power like the West, but it was too expensive for the Soviet State to build safe nuclear plants. They also didn't have the mechanisms to remove corrupt and incompetent leaders as the West does.

8 milli roentgen is a focking LOT of radiation. Not an immediate danger but you 100% do not to stay near that level for any extended period of time. You would get max allowed dose in less than a month. And that is not including that pesky Iodine that would go straight in your thyroid gland to stay there for a loooooooong time.

Technically there have been more deaths from building wind turbines and solar arrays than all nuclear accidents combined. Nuclear is statistically the safest and cleanest form of energy production we humans have ever engineered. The main reason why new nuclear reactors aren’t built anymore is because of cost. The government isn’t subsidizing nuclear reactors anymore and with all the safety measures required it’s incredibly expensive. There are currently 94 nuclear reactors in operation in the United States, spread across 28 states.
