      12 foot jon with 2 Medium sized adults (140-190 lbs), trolling motor and battery, fishing gear: 6.5 inch prop : 10-12mph 7.5 inch prop:15-16 mph (what I personally run) 8 inch prop: 16 but motor is a little boggy, even in open water Note* only modifications done to motor is a zip tie on governor spring and oil sensor delete.

    Your sparks plugs probably got wet and didnt get spark, thats why it most likely shut off. Put some dielectric grease on your plugs/wires, that should help. Btw, that is a nice color for that Brute!

    • @gcadventures169
      @gcadventures169 Před 3 lety

      Hey man thanks for the advise! So I did fill the plug boots but of all things I think a figured out the real problem. It is hard to tell from the video (more noticeable in person) but it almost sounded like it was cutting out right before it stalled because I was at idle and hitting the throttle very quickly. I had a problem that every once in a while, It would stall at idle by itself. Also, if I hit the gas too fast from idle, It would stall. After some advice from VForceJohn, I cleaned out my idle control module, and the two holes on the side of the airbox. Runs like a dream now, no more cutting out while quickly hitting the gas from idle, no more stalling by itself at idle.

    Do you have to force it in the water or do you just drop it down and let it go? (Speeking of the prop)

    • @gcadventures169
      @gcadventures169 Před 3 lety

      Due to the fact that the prop angle is naturally pointing down, the faster you go, the harder you have to push down. Sweet spot seems to be around 6-10 mph, slower and you have to hold it from sinking deeper and faster you have to put a little pressure to keep it down. If it seems like it wants to keep popping out of the water on the port side, the skeg needs to be adjusted.

    How long can you run on a tank of gas?

    • @gcadventures169
      @gcadventures169 Před 3 lety

      A tank of gas will last you a few hours. I always bring a small 2 gallon gas can with me but I’ve never used more than half of it, even if I’m out all day

  • @Chalz108

    How is the turning radius on one of these? Is it possible to whip it around in a narrow river?

    • @gcadventures169
      @gcadventures169 Před 3 lety

      Sharp turns aren’t necessarily this motors strong suit but it can do it pretty well. What I mean is it can turn the boat on a dime if you have the muscle to reach the handle back that far (perpendicular to the boat). The most useful thing for tight spaces though is the fact you can row the motor like an oar and spin yourself around even when the motor is off. Moral of the story, if the water is as wide as your boat is long (+motor tail length) then its 100% possible.

    Does this work with thick Lilly padded areas?

    • @gcadventures169
      @gcadventures169 Před 3 lety

      I have done some testing in some dense lily padded area. The kit comes with a 6.25 and 6.5 inch props and I bought 7, 7.5, and 8 inch ones. When going through anything thick your going to want to use a smaller prop (6.5-7 for a 10-12 ft boat or 6.25-6.5 for a 14 foot boat. Top speed will only be about 10-12mph with those props but as long as you keep the prop closer to the surface instead of digging it down and don't fight it when it wants to bounce off the thicker lily stems, it'll push you right through it. My only complaint is it works great chopping through pads and even hydrilla mats but I would recommend putting a small piece of pvc pipe with a bunch of holes drilled in it around the spot between the bushing and the prop if you're going through thick grass because that seems to be the only thing that can get wrapped up in there.
