Cibelle & Devendra in Victorian garb dance on the roofs in this Mary Poppins-like illustration of the Caetano Veloso classic (as performed on Cibelle's album "The Shine Of Dried Electric Leaves") Directed by Tom Haines.
Esse vídeo é lindo e eu o assisti pela primeira vez em 2007 qnd morei em Londres... Até hoje assisto pois me trás boas recordações!!! ❤️
Under the mango tree brought me here

holaaaaa
me encant
uaaau
that version has too much accent. the RPM version is better, because the singer has better knowledge of English

it's important to keep one's accent, it's part of their identity. and knowledge of a language has no connection with not having an accent. the accent is much more related to how the muscles of your mouth articulate certain sounds based on how those muscles' movements were conditioned their entire lives. so you shouldn't worry about accents and enjoy the perfectly conveyed message this tune brings through verbal and musical modes.
A stunning version. It's truly compelling! I really enjoyed it!!
Ainda prefiro a versão original. Caetano dá um clima sentimental à música
n
Excellllllnnnt
grats cib, you got a coke ad
DEVENDRA :D
eu adoro a versão do RPM pois ela renovou a canção no coletivo brasileiro dos anos 80
Calm down man, everybody understands music.
So self centered
huzur huzur olabildiğine alabildiğine huzur.
Infelizmente essa canção foi muito desgastada pelo grupo RPM, aqui no Brasil nos anos 80
Somebody have the chords for this song?
Sorry, but I don't like her version.
How fortunate we are to live in a world that is so different at every turn! If we keep our eyes open we will never be bored,
Love the song, hate this arrangement.
are there tabs for this song ?
I saw Cibelle right after her second album came out. She played nothing from her first. I was a bit bummed. But at least I was able to dance with her. Also, she seemed a little high. And her English at the time was way better than my Portuguese. They played this song too.
Hahaha! In the States, our media is essentially half-filled trying to sell us shit we cannot afford and don't need. Our so-called "middle-class" is built on credit. So you're telling me that the Brazilian gov't didn't think that the citizens had enough purchasing power, so they filled the media with UFO sitings?
The loveliest vocal combination ever!
@ableukhov This version is a cover. The song was written by a brazilian singer Caetano Veloso, who was exiled in London by the brazilian military governement in the 60's. In the song he is basically singing how London is a great beautiful place and that he can walk the streets without fear, however he knows no one there and feels very very lonely, and wants to desperately come back to his birth place. A thing which he can't do. The 1st verse is the song self explanation.
Bacana!
@Nickoles2 oh, really? i always thought that the sentece was a poetic way to say that he was waiting for a 'message' telling him the situation in Brazil was getting better and then he could come back. But your interpretation makes more sense. anyway, a great song, no matter what he wanted to say!
bem bacana
Bacana!
wonderful, what a combination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
beautiful... the British are the finest people in the world... or at least they were!
beautiful
Devendra > Cibele. Muito mais.

warning: this is NOT bossa-nova.it is simply samba. Cartola era bossa-nova porque cantava baixinho? Ah, tá!
esse clipe é muito bem bolado!!!!
"Green grass, blue eyes, grey skies, God bless silent pain and happiness" - England seen by a Brazilian (not any Brazilian, a fuckin' genius and legend, Caetano Veloso)
its not fuckin mpb... its not even sung in portuguese... its bossa though
