Several Disclaimers for this video: 1) My video is a review of the 2006 film, and is in no way meant to be a political statement or endorsement of anything. I know this movie's title has gotten used a lot in political commentary, but I ain't into that. 2)Audio and video quality is kinda lacking in parts - I've been trying out some new stuff lately, and I didn't want to go back and reshoot the v...

    woah blast from the past haha. this vid was in my feed. I thought, hmm i recognize that title, why?😂 at first I thought it was a video game. Then as you went through and did the review i slowly realized I watched this whilst a child in maybe, 1993. haha. And then boom! when the clip came up of the alien robot eye rapidly going up to the kid… it was like a eureka awakening moment in my brain and the memory of that scene triggered!🎉🎉🎉 Don’t remember anything else about it haha. But yah good review. It’s totally a fun idea to go back and watch old vhs’s from back in the day!

    I appreciate your honesty, but you’re approaching this children’s movie in your middle age nearly 40 years after its release. If you can’t set yourself in the time period, for the character’s age, or even within the fantasy, you’re not going to connect with it. For me, this and Back to the Future were my favorite movies growing up. This dealt with aliens. Both dealt with time travel. This had a different approach dealing with time dilation, AI, and even utilizing a test subject as an experiment that would be the key to all their survival later. Those were all uncommon sci-fi concepts back in the day, especially for kids. David’s trip mirrors folklore/mythological tales of traveling to the gods, only to return and find significant time has passed, and he’s now lost in a place that should be familiar. He has to adapt, he has to return to the very alien thing that caused the problem, and trust he won’t die in the process of truly going home. I’m really sorry you were bored because you missed a lot of interesting concepts, some tying back to eastern ancient tales, and David’s own psychology of dealing with the impossible

      @nozrep Před měsícem

      yah, he even said he is looking at it with his adult eyes. He didn’t like, try to hide that at all. It’s just a fun exercise and maybe not compareable but it’s totally fine that anyone would view an old movie of any sort through the “lense” of who they are today and now, not back then.

      I'd have to say I enjoy them because I've never been to the UK, but reading the comics gives me a little snapshot look at the last few decades from a culturally different perspective. Not until 1982 did we have another TV channel called Channel 4 so the audience viewing figures were MEGGA The movie was ok but never as good as the individual episodes which I remember watching back in the day. For me a much simpler’ time in the 70’s. AYBS was just so funny and the characters were so apt. You could imagine how ‘true to life’ going into a posh men’s and ladies outfitters you would be treated like royalty. Sometimes it’s aired now and still laugh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿😍😍😃😃👍 👍 😀😀🙏🙏🇬🇧🥕

    Everyone in the future just reacts to what is happening around them. They never stop to think about their day or take time to question the motivations of others. Their only concern is their immediate gratification. "Go away, I'm baiting". Joe seems super intelligent because he questions what is going on. Joe immediately recognises that the systems that are in place don't work and maintaining the status quo is inevitably going to lead to disaster. Joe intuitively understands that simply piling up trash isn't going to make the problem go away. That continuing to water plants with electrolytes isn't working. The best scene that demonstrates this is the scene where Joe is trying to explain that plants need water. No matter how hard he tries to explain the fact that plants need water the reply is always and over and over a reactionary "..but Brawndo has what plants crave."

    Not as good as 'Holiday on the Buses', 'Carry on Abroad', the 'Steptoe and Son' movie or 'Confessions from a Holiday Camp', I admit, but still, as 1970s bawdy British holidays-themed films go, not bad. C+ is a reasonable mark. 🙂

  • @j0hnf_uk
    @j0hnf_uk Před 3 měsíci

    The movie version isn't a patch on the TV sitcom. They regurgitated a lot of the jokes from the show in to it, but it just didn't work as well as it could. The TV series was just the right length, (i.e. 30 minutes), to be able to digest the story being told within. Any longer than that, and it got a tad tiresome, I feel. Which is why a lot of the movies adapted from TV sitcoms don't seem to work very well. There are some exceptions, of course. I quite liked the, 'Steptoe and Son', movies, (there were 2 of them), and they had original plotlines to them that were extended to fill the hour and a half of the duration of the film. 'On The Buses', was another that did remarkably well, with the first of 3 movies they made actually being the best selling film of the year it was released! The second one wasn't bad, but the third one kind of showed they'd run out of ideas.

  • @beaubrent

    I've seen every episode of this show many times. The jokes for this movie version are largely from the existing episodes, not even adapted but just used outright. It was a money grab and even the most diehard fans didn't like the movie.

    No offensive dude if you want to succeed the video quality especially your script needs to improve this was a bad summary, missed key details like dumb people having more kids over time, or the movie clearly being a warning to americans about how our society it degenerating. Overall it felt like one of the movie characters made the video themselves. DO BETTER the summary could have been two good sentences you're literally just rambling are you high?

    I was in this movie! I was the zombie father! I could go on and on about the weird behind the scenes of this movie. The budget was around $70k mostly because it was shot on 16mm. The special effects guy were actually top notch but they were given such a low budget. The zombie makeup for the family was super extensive! They made prosthetics that fit only our faces and it took something like 3 hours for them to glue and paint the makeup. It took another hour just to remove the prosthetics because they were glued by medical adhesive! We had to dissolve it before we took it off! Many of us developed rashes on our faces that lasted almost a week! 😂
